About the RoleThe Gas Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Manager at Bermex. This position will play a key role in gas meter maintenance, exchange, and measurement. This position requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.
Salary Range DisclaimerThe base salary range represents the low and high end of the Bermex salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to customer contact terms, location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include Paid Time Off, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, ESOP contributions, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and other region-specific benefits as eligible.

What You'll Do•Gas Meter Exchangeso Perform visual inspections of gas service for leakso Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordinglyo Properly change out gas meters of varying sizes and brandso Properly change out gas meter registers for AMI/AMR upgradeo Perform safety checks to ensure proper installationo May require walking for long distances (occasionally up to 20 miles per day) in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.)o May exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs. of force, up to an occasional 50 lbs. of force)•Customer Communicationo Refers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authoritieso May provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicableo Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
- Education: None. Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience: Experience in exchanging gas/electric/water meters of varying sizes with ability to properly safety test, and troubleshoot . Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training
- In lieu of meter experience, will accept comparable technical experience and skill.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: High School Degree
- 1 year's experience in exchanging gas meters of varying sizes with ability to properly safety test, troubleshoot and relight pilot lights on a variety of existing appliances.
•Your Skills:•Must have a valid driver's license•Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team•Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling. Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends.•Adequate time management skills to finish daily assignments in a timely manner.•Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting management and customers•Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner•Excellent attention to detail for problem solving.•Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly•Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs•Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational proceduresThis role would not be a good fit if:•You don't enjoy working independently•Do not enjoy working in outdoor conditions•Do not enjoy walking long distances•Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routine•Do not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish a day's work in a timely manner•Drug/alcohol testing is required
