Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionAs a Fellow Intern in the Enterprise Optimization Technical Organization you will have the opportunity to develop novel graph theory applications to support GE Aerospace organization's complex engine maintenance, repair and overhaul operations spanning multiple sites across the globe.Candidates for this role should have strong theoretical background on algorithm development and have strong interest to learn deploying algorithms in scalable cloud and distributed computing environments targeted for enterprise systems.Roles and Responsibilities may include:

  • Handling high-frequency multimodal data from distributed, heterogeneous information systems
  • Developing and testing algorithms within cloud-computing frameworks that solve large-scale problems
  • Coding quick prototype analytics tools for early phase of software systems production
  • Research and develop tools, frameworks and processes to improve analytical methods, performance, scale and sophistication of algorithms and systems applications
  • Clearly and professionally communicating progress and results of your research with the team, business leaders, customers and technology providers
  • Practical understanding of various decision models (simulation/optimization, MILP, stochastic dynamic programming) in the context of enterprise operations
  • Hands on programming with at least one of Python, C++, MATLAB or Julia

Intern assignments are typically for 12-14 weeks; working side by side with experts in the field of mechanical engineering, completing challenging technical projects and applying theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems. This program includes seminars on cross-center technology and soft skills development as well as opportunities for networking and showcasing project accomplishments.Qualifications/Requirements :
  • Current enrollment in PhD program, seeking technical degree in Operations Research, Computational Mathematics or a related field in an accredited college or university
  • Permanent legal authorization to work in the US is required. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
  • Willingness to work at the GE Aerospace Research facility on the Niskayuna NY campus
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale

The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific weekly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
