Job Title: General Clerk | Chicago, ILPERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:The period of performance shall be for a period of 6 months with one (1) six-month option period. The Period of Performance reads as follows:Base Period: January 27, 2025 - July 26, 2025Option Period I: July 27, 2025 - January 26, 2026 -Option II January 27, 2026 to July 26,2026JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following are summary descriptions of the requirements of this performance work statement that include, but is not limited to:
- Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors, determines the nature of business, and tactfully refers calls to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming mail for the agency. Create, tab, and tab paper files, indexes, and other documents as needed. Data entry and typing are done consistently on a personal computer. Uses a variety of office equipment in conducting the work of the office, including but not limited to personal computers, fax machine, copy machine, mail equipment, scanner, etc.
- Communicate with court reporters and external customers to schedule telephone conference and in-person and video hearings. Initiates inquiries regarding case processing and responds to appeal inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge (AJ) of the office.
- At the direction of the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist to respond to the public, appellants, and their representatives, concerning potential, pending and past appeals and general Board procedures.
REQUIRED AND DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Required 2-4 years of recent experience in the administrative field or in a related legal clerical assistant area.
- Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the legal field.
- Familiar with legal documents preferred.
- Familiar with legal databases such as LexisNexis, Westlaw and Pacer preferred.
- Proficient in operating office equipment, such as personal computers, copy machines, scanners, etc.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- High school diploma.
HOURS OF OPERATION:The contractor is responsible for conducting business, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (1/2 hour for lunch) Monday thru Friday except Federal holidays or when the facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar directed facility closings.PRIMARY PLACE OF PERFORMANCE:The work to be performed under this contract will be performed at the Chicago Regional Office, 230 S. Dearborn Street, Suite 3100, Chicago, IL 60604. This work requires on-site performance and is not eligible for remote work.TRAVEL: Will not be required.
