Job Type Full-time Description The General Clerk II is primarily responsible for supporting the containment room, following all established safety controls and measures. The General Clerk II receives and processes mail using conveyors and automated equipment such as scanners. The General Clerk II properly screens mail using the provided test equipment and training provided. The General Clerk II distinguishes and sorts between outgoing (Post) and domestic mail. The General Clerk II lifts and carries moderate to heavy mail packages and stands for prolonged periods of time. The General Clerk II performs assigned tasks within the functional area depending on assignment, to include but not limited to the following:
- Process mail manually off carrier trucks in containment using conveyors.
- Process mail delivered in APC's, BMC's, Tri-walls, pallets by mail carriers in containment.
- Scan received items into ILMS using provided scanners.
- Responsible for X-raying all items received in containment.
- Signing for carrier drop-off after scanning in containment.
- Responsible for sorting and pre-sorting small parcels in containment.
- Setting up containment rooms for daily processing, to include making sure there are enough supplies (markers, empty mail equipment, etc.).
- Responsible for properly identifying the different classes/groups of mail (Post, Domestic, CA, SA-32, and other special mail).
- Screen letters in the Tritek room.
- Properly label and tag processed small parcel and letter mail in containment to enhance metric capturing.
- Use provided trays to screen flats/small parcels in containment.
- Receive and process CA mail for dispatch.
- Use the pallet jack to move and stage mail accordingly.
- Load and unload processed mail to/from holding rooms to designated staging areas.
- Refill holding rooms with empty equipment, pallets, mail cages (APC's), etc.
- Operate the dock levelers/conveyors after Teams Leads have secured carriers truck keys.
- Responsible for plugging the CA truck during winter when assigned to the CA Team.
- Perform all duties of a General Clerk I and other support duties as assigned when not in containment to include pouching, processing sac vides, supporting the shipping & staging lanes, staging mail in designated areas, sorting small parcels, sorting/quality checking letters and pouches using established guidelines, feeding/inducting mail on the parcel sorter, etc.
- Cross-train and work across contract functional areas to meet workload demands, including HMI and encoding.
- Perform duties in accordance with safe warehouse operations, practices & policies, to include use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required, such as wearing provided safety vest when out of containment or during breaks/lunch in designated trailer.
- Maintain knowledge of contract performance requirements and acceptable quality levels for assigned tasks to achieve contract compliance.
- Ensure OpenNet account is active by taking all required training classes in a timely manner.
- Understand and use ILMS to perform all job duties.
- Accomplish all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities: The General Clerk II understands and acknowledges that working in the containment room means you cannot leave the containment area until cleared by authorized personnel, which includes use of designated trailer for breaks/lunch and not being able to leave worksite during breaks/lunch. This position pays $23.24 (includes 10% night shift differential) per hour plus $5.05 per hour for health and welfare benefit. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Experience in a high-volume production mail operation, warehouse, or similar environment
- Ability to successfully complete online warehouse skills assessment
- Ability to successfully complete corporate background investigation to include credit and criminal check
- Ability to successfully complete lift test
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Government suitability determination/clearance
