Job Description:

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Counsel to join our team. The General Counsel will be responsible for providing strategic legal guidance and leadership to the organization. The ideal candidate will provide guidance in areas such as contract administration for federal contracts, employment law, risk mitigation, policies and procedures, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the company's executive team and board of directors.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to contract administration for federal contracts, employment law, risk mitigation, policies and procedures, compliance with local, state, and federal law, and union negotiations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Oversee and manage litigation matters, including working with external counsel as needed.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may affect the company and provide proactive guidance to mitigate legal risks.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as needed.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other advisors.
  • Provide legal support and guidance to various departments within the organization, including Human Resources, Finance, Operations, and Business Development.
  • Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in any state (must pass FL bar within one year of start-date).
  • Experience practicing law in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of federal contracting regulations and requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts for an organization.
  • Knowledge of federal contracting procedures and regulations.
