  • Knowledge of instructional procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of basic math, grammar and punctuation
  • Knowledge of child development and learning styles
  • Knowledge of age appropriate activities
  • Knowledge of behavior patterns and development limitations of general education students
  • Skilled in operating classroom equipment, including related software
  • Skilled is utilizing a variety of equipment used in the care and handling of students with disabilities
  • Skilled in accurate record keeping

  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the supervision of the Teacher
  • Assist student(s) with social and/or emotional needs
  • Confer with the Teacher, as requested, in evaluating student(s) progress and coordinating tests and homework assignments
  • Assist in implementing academic plans
  • Instruct student(s) one-on-one or in small groups to assist the Teacher in implementing goals for remediation of student deficiencies and ensuring student success
  • Maintain files and/or records
  • Monitor student(s) during lunch, recess, field trips or as designated by the Teacher to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
  • Perform record keeping and clerical function
  • Report observations and incidents relating to specific students concerning unacceptable behavior
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns
  • Assist other staff as required to ensure an efficient and effective learning environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 60 semester hours of credit at an accredited community college or university. OR
