About Dunigan Bros., Inc

Water is one of the 3 essential needs for human life. That's why we specialize in constructing infrastructure to supply clean water and dispose of wastewater for communities throughout the Midwest.

How you get to help us do that in this role

Support the construction of underground water mains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers with hands-on work and help keep construction sites safe.

What you'll do

  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Facilitate a smooth workflow by providing necessary materials and equipment
  • Maintain project integrity with proper assembly and installation of structures - including cutting and assembling pipe, fittings, and accessories
  • Prepare groundwork for the installation of underground utilities and ensure stability and longevity by digging, compacting, and backfilling
  • Maintain a level and uniform surface for proper drainage and ground conditions by raking, shoveling, grading, and hand mining.
  • Minimize the risk of accidents and equipment downtime by safely operating and maintaining heavy equipment, machinery, and tools
  • Ensure precise and accurate workmanship with the use of small tools including chain saws, cut-off saws, impact wrenches, torches, non-powered hand tools, and measuring tools
  • Confirm accuracy and compliance with project alignment and grade specifications by measuring materials and grade checking

About you

  • People wonder where you get your energy and you love to work outside
  • Nothing leaves your hands until you're proud of it and you enjoy seeing what you've helped build
  • You have your own transportation and a valid driver's license
  • You have basic reading, writing, and math skills to measure, shoot grade, read and interpret grade stakes, measure and cut materials, calculate grades, read plans, follow installation guides (or the ability to learn how)

Even better (but not required) if you have

  • General construction labor experience (underground utilities, even better!)
  • Auto/equipment mechanical background
  • Welding experience
  • CDL license

What's in it for you

  • Balance - While many heavy civil contractors work their teams 70-80 hours per week, we average 45-50 hours per week and very rarely work weekends
  • Growth - We know it's hard to find good training in this industry. We won't expect you to pick it up or move on. We offer unlimited training, both hands-on and online
  • Financial Security
    • A guaranteed union pension
    • Free platinum healthcare on day 1
    • Twice annual vacation fund payouts
  • Variety - You won't be doing repetitive work. We chase after different types of unique projects and seek to take on the most challenging ones
  • Stability - Work with a stable crew on long term projects. You won't be constantly re-dispatched and moved around. You'll know where you're going every day
  • Recognition & Support - Gift cards, birthday gifts, go home early days when possible, Ariat apparel allowance
