For more information, visit .Job Summary: The Shop Assistant must be an individual who can adapt to a fast-paced environment with an adherence to on-time delivery of parts. This person should have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and ask questions about the manufacturing processes. This person must be flexible and willing to work in multiple departments as demand requires.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Grinding and orbital sanding of welded partsLearn and perform manual deburring operationsRemove tabs, slag, rust, and sharp edges as neededLearn to use various shop tools such as orbital sanders, timesavers, fladder, belt sanders and hand tools at an entry levelHandle finished items in a careful manner to prevent damageMask parts for paint/powderWash parts in prep for paint/powderClean parts in prep for outside processPack and ship partsMaintain a neat and orderly work areaFunction in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damagePerform other duties as assignedMust be willing and able to wear all required PPETECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:Ability to learn to read blueprintsAbility to learn how to use shop toolsBEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:Demonstrates motivation and accountability to achieve individual and department goalsDemonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team membersDemonstrates initiative and personal accountability to meet work demands and work effectively under pressure with supervisionAbility to respond and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and facility needsStrong attention to detail and commitment to effectively produce high quality workDemonstrates teamwork by sharing knowledge and helping where neededEDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or GED requiredExperience in manufacturing or prototyping is a plusEntry level positionPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various sizesAbility to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shiftAbility to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workdayAbility to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focusWORK ENVIRONMENT:Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme.
