Overview: This position functions as part of the property M&E Department by providing a variety of basic skills for the resort rooms and conference areas. Typical work would include completing daily work assignments in a timely manner such as the preventative maintenance of the buildings and equipment, performing basic repairs to include: tile, furniture, or equipment, painting, plumbing, or drywall repairs as well as and answering maintenance calls from both internal and external customers regarding general maintenance items. Reports to the Manager of M&E. The opening after training will primarily be scheduled for overnight shifts. Responsibilities:
- Provides general maintenance skills necessary for diagnosing and repairing buildings and equipment at the property including performing basic painting, light carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work. Work may consist of changing light bulbs, switch plate covers, replacing filters, switching out condo appliances (stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, washer/dryers), greasing equipment etc.
- Accountable for materials used, ordering items needed for job completion or inventory replacement per established Company procedure.
- Performs preventative maintenance as assigned.
- Troubleshoots maintenance calls and performs basic repairs or reaches out for assistance when issues are beyond the scope of one's capabilities and require specialized skills
- Performs project work as assigned during property renovations
- Follows all policy, procedures and service standards.
- Reports any unusual occurrence and/or damage that may have taken place that is observed while on duty
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Heating & Electric: Ability to identify if units are operating properly, make basic repairs such as replacing light bulbs/fluorescent tubes and installing filters
- Plumbing: Ability to repair/replace sinks, faucets, lavatories, valves, toilet fixtures, etc. install faucet washers/gaskets; take steps to unclog drain systems and plumbing using augers and drain snakes.
- Carpentry: Ability to repair/replace hardware (towel bars, toilet paper holders, mirrors) and make repairs to doors and window frames.
- Proficient in the use of tools and power equipment common to the trades
- Ability to comply with all current related safety and health requirements.
- Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related work in an outside environment subject to extremes in temperature including sun exposure as well as working in tight spaces, lifts objects weighing up to 70 pounds, climbs up/down 3 flights of stairs, using ladders both A frame and extension types, employee stands, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls for up to 8 hour shift
- Ability to bend at waist and perform repetitive foot and hand action with good hand/eye/foot coordination required
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to interact with guests
- Ability to maintain a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, coworkers and guests of the property
- Prefer past Hotel/hospitality experience
- Prefer experience or schooling in a trade such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, carpentry, flooring, etc.
- Must be available to work shifts that include: days, nights, weekends and holidays.
