Position Type: Maintenance/CustodialDate Posted: 11/4/2024Location: Emanuel County Board of EducationDate Available: 12/11/2024 Job Description General Maintenance Worker Department: Operations Work Days: 250 Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor Classification: Classified Position Summary: The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks involving the general maintenance and repair of school buildings, school premises, and variety of equipment, and to perform other duties consistent. May be required to perform minor glazing services, lock repairs, woodworking tasks, electrical, painting, heating, and ventilating services and any other normal routine maintenance duties associated with operation of school district buildings and equipment. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. 3 years of commercial maintenance is preferred.Certificates, Licenses, Permits: Valid Georgia Driver's License.Qualifications: Incumbent must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function of the position as well as provide a Criminal Background Check with results that adhere to the Emanuel County Board of Education Policy. (GAK 1)Essential Duties: Performs miscellaneous repair, maintenance construction, general installation, and preventative maintenance work under the direction of Supervisor, Site/Operations Manager, or skilled trades' person. Performs a variety of repair and tasks while directly assisting trades personnel including and not limited to replacing floor tile, replacing electrical ballasts and fluorescent tubes, painting out graffiti, repair fencing, patch asphalt or concrete, setting forms, installing paper towel or toilet paper dispensers, patching holes in plaster or wood walls, installing movie screens, chalkboards, tack boards, patching roofs, scraping paint, trenching, cleaning out keyways of locks, vandalism repair work, preventative maintenance on equipment, pressure washing, locker repair work, sheet metal repair, tile repair/ replacement both ceiling and ceramic bathroom tile, indoor, outdoor bleacher repair, grounds and tree maintenance. Operates various equipment to perform woodwork, assemble furniture, install flooring, etc. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up rooms for special meetings or events. Performs minor inspection duties of work performed or general building condition under the direction of a supervisor of a skilled trades' person. Cleans worksites including hauling debris and trash to the dumpster, cleaning tools and equipment and ensuring tools, materials and equipment are stored properly. Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skills in using measurement devices. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to perform general maintenance on HVAC systems. Ability to perform basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and mechanical work. Acquire the ability to support each essential trade discipline satisfactorily with knowledge of tools and techniques to complete the task.Performance Factors: Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Independent Judgment: Ability to complete work tasks without being given precise directions relative to work steps or the final project. Organizational Skills: Ability to establish priorities, simultaneously manage multiple tasks; and deliver a quality work product by a designated deadline. Attendance and Dependability: Ability to report to work at the scheduled time and to seldom be absent from work. Demonstrate prompt and regular work attendance. Process appropriate paperwork to authorize absences in accordance with school system procedures. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate manner and to be conscientious about work performance. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by Director of Operations or designee in accordance with Board Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel. FLSA: Non-exempt
