This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Typical Duties
- Takes assignments from the Team Leader and prepares appropriate equipment for the task.
- Operates light equipment such as riding mower, push mower, weed eater, sand blaster, pressure washer, as well as some hand tools such as shovels, pitchforks, rakes, etc. to clean up the environmental trouble spots.
- Prior to applying the light equipment, the area that the equipment will be applied to must be screened for large rocks and blown trash to prevent the equipment from been damaged.
- Keeps the hand tools and equipment in good working condition and performs routine and simple maintenance. Assists in minor repairs of these tools and equipment.
- When troubleshooting tasks are completed, help the alley cleaning crew to finish their tasks. When alley cleaning tasks are completed, help clean the blown trash outside the landfill in the down wind area.
- Under supervision, operates tractors, forklift, loaders or trucks with attachments such as shredders, chippers.
- Will clean and do the routine inspection and maintenance (such as oil change, etc.) of the vehicle and/or equipment assigned to.
- Provides both written and verbal reports on property damage and accidents to the Team Leader immediately upon occurrence.
- Must use City provided safety wears in accordance with the City of Clovis Safety Manual.
- Will be required to do other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and or his superiors.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:Licenses and Certificates:
- Must poses a valid driver license equivalent to a New Mexico Class D, and have a good driving record.
- High School diploma or GED.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of:
- Basic lawn maintenance, hand and power tools.
Skill in:
- Use of mowers, weed eaters and lawn equipment
Ability to:
- Work well with Citizens and co-workers
Physical RequirementsModerately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and squatting; pushing, pulling and lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds. Working Conditions Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Essential duties are predominantly performed outdoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions.
