Job Summary Job Description This position is responsible for cleaning and general maintenance services throughout the campus. This position shall provide a safe, clean environment for visitors, faculty, staff, and students. This position will assist with snow removal and landscaping duties and may also perform delivery / receiving operations on campus and assist the mail room as necessary. This position shall assist in safety, security, maintenance, and operations of Rochester Community and Technical College to ensure the College operates in a clean, safe and secure environment. Responsibilities
  • Clean offices, corridors, classrooms, study rooms, practice rooms, teacher and staff lounges, conference rooms, hallways, stairways, elevators, entrances, auditoriums, tunnel areas, laboratories, bathrooms, other rooms and general facilities so the assigned work area is maintained in a sanitary and safe condition on a daily basis. Perform deep cleaning duties as necessary or assigned. Perform minor repairs to equipment, furniture and facilities to ensure equipment is kept in a safe, clean condition and an overall safe environment is maintained.
  • Assist with moving furniture, setting up for campus events and delivering supplies so that furniture, on-campus events, community events, concerts, commencements, and other campus activities are efficiently set-up and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Assist with landscaping duties, snow removal, and field maintenance to ensure that the College's grounds are kept safe and aesthetically appealing. Assist with minor construction duties such as painting, drywall repair, carpet installation, hanging fixtures, and assisting the General Repair Workers so that repair work is done in an efficient, safe and professional manner. Assist security personnel with safety and security of assigned areas and all other campus areas as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of:
  • Different types of flooring/floor coverings sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
  • Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely, and to make minor repairs.
Ability to:
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
  • Keep adequate records.
Preferred Qualification
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Good human relations skills, work habits, and self-motivation
  • Valid Driver's License
Other Requirements
  • Ability to move 30 lbs regularly and 30-50 lbs on occasion (with assistance available).
