Job Summary This position exists to provide a clean, safe and healthy environment to all Minneapolis Community and Technical College customers through maintaining building floors and hallways, classrooms and restrooms, performing general cleaning duties according to a regular schedule and specially assigned area. It is also designed to provide support to occasionally set up the facility for special events and instructional periods. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Complete seasonal cleaning projects to include carpet extraction, stripping and waxing floors, and detailed cleaning as assigned by supervisor.
  • Use equipment consistent with its intended purpose and design.
  • Report any defective, broken, or unsafe equipment to your supervisor. Attach tag on the handle of the equipment stating problem, date, and name of person reporting the problem.
  • Comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and participate in mandatory training, testing, and certification for employees and equipment safety and maintenance.
  • Operate all equipment, and store and handle all supplies, in a safe manner. Utilize the appropriate personnel safety equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect urinals, toilets, sinks, counters and work areas using trigger sprayers and C3 machines.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in anti-racism professional development learning opportunities.
  • Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perceive and determine potential safety hazards.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks with limited direction.
  • Ability to use d atabase programs sufficient to enter and retrieve information and keep simple records
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly engage in bending, lifting, and maneuvering tasks.
  • Navigate uneven terrains while moving from place to place.
  • Maintain seated or standing positions for prolonged duration.
  • Frequently transport items up to 25 pounds.
