Position Function:
- Perform repair and preventative maintenance duties for all aspects of the school district's buildings, equipment, and grounds. All work is to be done in a satisfactory manner and time.
- Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent with at least three years general maintenance experience is necessary.
ADA Specifications: Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Must have a Pennsylvania Drivers License and be able to stand, crawl, crouch, and bend/twist from a stationary position for sustained periods of time. Able to walk sustained period of the workday throughout the school district. Able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum and see with near acuity of 20 inches or less with normal depth perception, color vision, field of vision, and accommodation. Climb to height of 25 feet or more, balancing on ladder, scaffolding, and catwalks. Exposure to various physical hazards and atmospheric conditions that may effect respiratory system and/or skin. Able to stoop repetitively and twist the body from a stationary position and reach. Able to push and pull objects weighting up to 50 pounds and use of fingers to pick, feel, reach, and grasp objects. Lift up to 50 pounds with a height up to 30 inches on a repetitive basis. Dollies are available to assist with weights in excess of 50 pounds. May climb 12 feet stepladder occasionally to access high areas to clean, such as when washing windows. Requires use of both hands when operating scrubber/buffer machinery and when making repairs. May perform fine manipulation when making general repairs. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible, in conjunction with the Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Operations, for the scheduling and timely completion of routine maintenance tasks as requested on prescribed maintenance forms.
- Assist the Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor with the development and updating of preventative maintenance programs for all equipment.
- Responsible for the implementation of a preventative maintenance program for boilers, HVAC equipment, etc.
- Maintain school district vehicles on a regularly scheduled basis in conformance with State inspection laws and the vehicles' manuals for preventative maintenance.
- Evaluate current needs, both of a routine and emergency nature and make a determination with Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor as to whether or not work can be done in-house or should be contracted.
- Responsible for the acquisition and inventory control of all maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Assist the Director of Operations and Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor in developing bids for any supplies or equipment needed.
- On call for emergencies on weekends and holidays.
- Renovate existing spaces to meet changing requirements in educational programs as requested by building principals and approved by the Superintendent.
- Operate and maintain the school district's water system and add chemicals as needed.
- Repair and maintain all elements of the heating system; boilers; burners, unit heaters, thermostats, filters, control devices, and storage tanks.
- Repair and maintenance of all aspects of buildings, equipment, furniture, and grounds, i.e., glass, doors, blinds, mowers, roofs, driveways, playground equipment, plumbing, and electrical items, snow removal, etc.
- Implementation of programs and tasks as requested by the Energy/Safety Committee as it relates to buildings and grounds.
- Assist the Director of Operations in developing an annual building and grounds maintenance program.
- Must take sixteen (16) hours of asbestos training as required by the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986.
- Monitor school district's underground storage tanks as directed by the Director of Operations.
- Perform such other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and the Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor.

- Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Ability to work above ground from ladders and automatic lifts.
- Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s).
