Salary Range: $20.21 - $28.79To provide the necessary custodial and housekeeping duties related to Academic Buildings, owned by the University, specifically the Student Center, Conference Facility and McFarland Building. To assist staff and students by providing resources to clean, move, rearrange or otherwise accommodate requests that will assist in functioning of the physical area they occupy. To provide or seek assistance in providing a safe and secure environment. To make minor repairs and report to supervisors major repairs, vandalism or damage. This is a night position, Tuesday-Saturday and weather essential.
Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of:
- Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
- Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
- Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
Ability to:
- Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
- Follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
- Keep simple records.
- Work outside in adverse weather conditions on occasion is required.
Preferred QualificationsAbility to:
- Follow oral and written directions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Get along with co-workers and supervisors, to treat co-workers, supervisors, students, and customers with respect and courtesy and to refrain from abusive or insubordinate behavior.
- Think and work independently and use good sound judgment, approximately 75% of the work assignment is completed at the A level of discretion implying an infrequent contact with supervisor, minimal supervisory oversight and necessitates the ability to think and work independently and use sound good judgement.
- Properly recognize and independently use basic hand tools.
- Move/remove heavy equipment up to 40 pounds
- Ascend/descend ladders and stairs to perform different tasks.
- Appear for work and to complete tasks within established timelines.
Knowledge of:
- Janitorial/custodial techniques, materials, equipment, and a basic knowledge of physical plant hardware use and operation. The position requires the ability to make minor repairs, adjustments, provide preventive and routine maintenance on hardware, cleaning equipment, furniture, and room accessories.
