Mount Aloysius College, repeatedly recognized by ModernThink as a Great College to Work For, is seeking self-driven candidates for full-time work in our Maintenance/Grounds department.
The General Maintenance Worker is responsible to provide safe and secure working/living spaces for the College's students, faculty and staff. Also responsible to perform regular maintenance duties such as general carpentry and building repair, painting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and janitorial work. Replaces electrical/light fixtures, installs and repairs electrical outlets, plumbing fixtures, water and drainage lines, repairs broken locks, and pulls wire and CAT 6 cable. Also responsible to assist with the appearance, condition and maintenance of the Campus facilities and grounds. Duties are dependent on the season and include snow-removal (operating plows and other snow-removal equipment), spreading ice melt, operating weed eaters, push mowers, tractors and other outdoor power equipment as needed. Additional duties include hauling trash from buildings to dumpster locations, picking up and dropping off deliveries to various locations on and off Campus, and participating in event set ups and tear downs. Further duties may be assigned depending on candidate's skill set.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in general maintenance, building or construction-related position preferred. Experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance preferred. Experience working in a school or campus environment a plus. Ability to carry out assigned responsibilities independently in the absence of direct supervision and follow oral and/or written directions required. Ability to set work priorities and establish a positive rapport with coworkers also required. This position requires occasional evening, weekend and holiday hours. Also participates in a rotational on-call schedule to assist with emergency situations. Valid, unencumbered PA Driver's License required. Ability to pass background check/s including Motor Vehicle Record Check, PA Criminal History, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance required.
