Job Overview

Under direction of the Site Lead, the General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Pay Rate: $34.61 /hourly

Work Model: Onsite

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Work will involve the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings;repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets; painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks; replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles; hanging doors and installing door locks; replacing broken window panes; and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Coordinates with other trade personnel and the warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Help perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • Supports and assists other department staff and trade groups as needed or directed.
  • Adheres to the established Chugach safety, personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in a Facilities environment.
  • Must have general working knowledge of mechanical, (electric doors, gates and closures), electrical, plumbing, carpentry (framing, decking and railings).
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
  • Ability to work a schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off.
  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Valid state drivers license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
