Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented General Manager to join our team at Hotel 1928! This position is responsible for strategic oversight of the property, including sales and marketing, finance, human resources, engineering, and all hotel operations. The General Manager will lead the property executive team to consistently deliver distinctive and memorable service and exceptional operational standards and to realize the objectives of the ownership group. The General Manager will embrace the property's vision and service culture, promoting unity and teamwork amongst all departments and cultivate a supportive and productive relationship with internal and external partners. ABOUT HOTEL 1928 In the heart of Waco, TX, sits the newly opened Hotel 1928, an inspired hospitality experience designed and developed by Chip and Joanna Gaines, and transformative hospitality company AJ Capital Partners. Located at 701 Washington Street, Hotel 1928 is the historic restoration and adaptive reuse of the former Grand Karem Shrine Temple Building. Named after the year the building was completed, Hotel 1928 offers 33 guest rooms, three food and beverage outlets including Bertie's On The Rooftop, The Brasserie at Hotel 1928 and a Cafe. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee property operations functions, including rooms, food & beverage, retail, sales & marketing, and maintenance
  • Serve as on property contact for Magnolia Brands, ensuring operations represent and uphold Magnolia brand standards and extend the values and hospitality culture of Magnolia Brands across Hotel 1928
  • Ensure the hotel is meeting or exceeding operational, financial, and cultural strategic and fiscal plans
  • Grow top line revenue and identify new revenue streams
  • Build market share through new and innovative methods, including differentiating through training and continuous improvement of service levels and guest experience
  • Consistently deliver accurate forecasting projections for areas of responsibility and implement effective adjustments as required in staffing and other cost drivers to ensure profit integrity
  • Lead monthly operations reviews and respond to ad-hoc internal and external requests
  • Effectively work with above property leaders in operations, revenue management, sales, marketing, IT, accounting, and human resources to ensure all financial and operational goals are met
  • Collaborate with Magnolia Brands for all brand-relevant touchpoints, including marketing, retail shop coordination, and any cross promotions.
  • Collaborate with AJ Capital corporate teams, including operations/asset management, brand strategy, design, and development
  • Effectively represent and tell the story of Hotel 1928 in the local community, regionally and nationally
  • Ensure the property is operated safely and securely according to property and company standards
  • Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 10+ years of hotel management experience, preferably with luxury hotels
  • Experience managing an independent hotel
  • Prior Food & Beverage leadership experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business or related field, with a graduate degree preferred
  • Deep knowledge of hotel industry trends, best practices, rules, and regulations
  • Strong understanding of finance/financial statements and operations key performance indicators
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize, and delegate as appropriate
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships internally and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
