The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program. Job Description The General Manager II will lead and drive the success of a single location or a Market Center with more than $30M in revenue. In this high-profile role, this individual will maximize the location or Market Center's return, deliver exceptional service(s) to our clients, and focus strongly on driving synergies and operational efficiencies through short- and long-term goals. The GM leads their team of operational leaders to achieve the revenue growth and transaction targets for the location or Market Center aligned with the overall Inventory Solutions goals and objectives. Some measures of success for this position include revenue, EBITDA, margin, client satisfaction measures, market share, and team member engagement. Key Responsibilities include: Growth
  • Develop strategic operational plan to achieve revenue growth and transaction targets for the Market Center. Be innovative and forward-thinking about dynamic nature of service offerings in the future.
  • Develop and cascade revenue, efficiency goals and objectives and manage Market Center/auctions' operational goals.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creative thinking when forming solutions for the Market Center that go beyond current/existing boundaries and goals to improve the overall Market Center and company performance.
  • Leverage partnership with other Cox Automotive businesses for alignment with the vision and goals of Cox Automotive to enhance client experience, bridge service/product gaps, grow market share, and increase synergies and profitability.
  • Partner with corporate teams on strategic efforts by providing feedback, problem solving, and championing growth efforts for the auctions.
People Leadership
  • Strategically lead and influence teams of leaders and managers in the matrixed Market Center across many functional areas to achieve the goals of the Market Center and Inventory Solutions.
  • Partner with auction GMs outside of the Market Center, as well as boundary/support partners, to share best practices, better serve shared or similar clients, and share talent.
  • Leverage the Empowered People Model and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
  • Develop auction team members, including creating intentional experiences to build general athletes.
  • Effectively lead auction people managers to champion Cox Automotive values and ensure all team members are treated with respect; create a pro-team member open door work environment.
Service Excellence
  • Drive consistent and exemplary client and team member experience across auctions within a Market Center.
  • Collaborate with business process owners (e.g., CSS, Digital Manheim, Recon) to represent MC/auction perspective on corporate initiatives and provide strategic input.
  • Evaluate trends with dealers and commercial clients to proactively devise corrective plans as needed and strengthen relationships to increase revenue sources.
  • Address performance issues (people, process, client) that affect profits in order of priority.
Strategic Operations Management
  • Balance long range strategic Market Center initiatives while executing on shorter term, practical efforts that have an immediate and visible impact.
  • Using a data-driven approach, identify and implement operational process improvements that can scale across the Market Center (and beyond).
  • Ensure Manheim and CAI strategic and operational priorities, policies and procedures are operationalized across the Market Center at all levels and departments to reach optimal efficiencies.
  • Collect and use operational and sales data to evaluate Market Center and auction productivity, forecast work volume, devise corrective plans to drive revenue sources and operational efficiencies for the Market Center and auction(s), and present recommendations to regional leadership.
  • Promote a culture of safety and champion Cox Conserves initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience; High School Diploma and 16 years of relevant experience in related field. ~OR~ Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of relevant experience in a related field and 7 years of experience in a leadership role ~OR~ Master's Degree and 10 years of relevant experience in related field. ~OR~ Ph.D. and 7 years of relevant experience in related field.
  • Experience in the automotive or Auction industry preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective management, decision-making, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experienced computer and software skills and knowledge, as well as experience with AS400 essential.
  • Valid driver's License and good driving record
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
