Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC is looking for a General Manager. Ideal candidate will have Sales/Revenue Management experience in addition to Hotel Operations. We are AMEX/Virtuoso boutique style 186 key hotel with the team of 250 associates. Exciting opportunity within NYC market.

Position: General Manager

Reporting to: Hotel Ownership

Summary of Position: General Manager will represent Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC in all aspects of the day-to-day management of the Hotel and its staff and has accountability for planning, organizing and directing all hotel services, with a hands-on department head approach relating to reception, concierge, and guest services. As General Manager, you will differentiate and elevate the guest experience by utilizing your connection to the local community and trendsetters, along with anticipation of guest wishes, to link our guests in a meaningful way with the newest happenings, and provide insider access to exclusive experiences, both in and out of the hotel that are unexpected and surprising.

Primary Functions:

To serve as a Gansevoort Hotel Group Brand Ambassador and maintain integrity of brand standards and goals.

Efficiently manage and support department heads to ensure departmental goals are met.

To interact with and provide insider connections to as many guests as possible in the areas of local lifestyle-related hot-spots including new and fashionable boutiques, restaurants, galleries, design points of interest, in-hotel happenings, and exclusive events.

To develop connections and ability to network in the local community and hotel and build relationships with the types of people and locations that can provide exclusive access for our hotel guests based on there being a good match between their location or event and the demographic of Gansevoort.

To act as the face of the hotel and be present in the lobby during peak times of day to engage with as many guests as possible.

Ensure compliance with company standards for personnel administration and performance, service to guests, patrons, and budget.

Conducts walkthrough inspections of guests' rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance on a daily basis.

Answer guest and patrons' complaints and resolves problems to maintain Guest Satisfaction.

Specific Accountabilities:

Lead daily operations meetings.

Monitor service trends by engaging with Hotel guests, reviewing guest comment cards and emails; make changes as necessary.

Work closely with high profile guests such as celebrities, dignitaries, top Sales team clients, etc to ensure close personal attention and a seamless experience.

Physically tour and visually inspect property on a daily basis monitoring property condition, cleanliness, and quality of product and service throughout the Hotel. Greet and maintain rapport with employees and guests.

Monitors and proactively takes steps to improve TripAdvisor ranking.

Ensure all employees have the tools they need to perform their jobs.

Supervise/counsel departmental managers in the effective and efficient operation of their respective area(s). Meet with, develop, and delegate improvement plans for operation.

Maintain an Open Door Policy for line staff and management.

Ensure that all Department Heads are completing all job responsibilities as required and to company standard.

Work with each operating Department to create annual budgets and formulate into the master budget.

Participate in the development of the CapEx Budget.

Ensure all Departments expenses are in line with the budget.

Participate in neighborhood organizations, government, charities to promote community awareness and acceptability of the Hotel.

Must spend adequate amounts of time outside of the hotel to effectively build networks and connections.

Formulate and execute comprehensive marketing, branding and development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization and enhance revenue.

Lead Hotel to meet and/or exceed financial obligations and profitability through overseeing and actively participating in sales, labor productivity, cost control, and effective purchasing including anticipating revenue/cost problems and managing the timing of discretionary expenditures.

Implement, monitor, adhere to, and enforce compliance with all Hotel and company policies, procedures, and standards and local, state, and federal law as well as all franchise mandated policies, procedures, and standards, as applicable.

Oversee and approve staffing levels/scheduling within budgetary guidelines and in accordance with operational needs.

Supervise/counsel departmental managers in the effective and efficient operation of their respective area(s). Meet with, develop, and delegate improvement plans for operation.

Develop staff to include mentoring/empowering staff and identifying growth potential and setting objectives to achieve next level position.

Lead, participate in, and manage the process of accurately developing, coordinating, revising within the planning procedures established by the Corporate Office, including the Annual Budget, Annual Marketing Plan, Annual Capital Expenditure Plan, and Forecasts/Re-forecasts.

Promote cooperation and teamwork while supporting company philosophy and policies.

Provide a professional image at all times. Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics. Be attentive and genuine with staff.

Participate in the interviewing process for Executive level candidates.

Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all executives, and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization; establish effective decision-making processes that will enable Gansevoort Hotel Group to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Knowledge of Hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, human resources and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation plans, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, and the development of long-range planning.

Sales/Marketing, Revenue experience is highly desired.

Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals. Able to set priorities, plan, organize, delegate, and control.

Excellent and in-depth knowledge of the local area and in particular lifestyle focused events and locations that are connected with fashion, design, entertainment, music and nightlife.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff - being persuasive, clear, and to the point. Written communication skills to be concise, well-organized, complete, clear, and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, corporate office, and owner.

Ability to motivate and inspire staff.

Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.

Ability to travel to various sites on and off Hotel property and continuously performs essential job functions.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.

Must be able to work stationary for at least 8 hours.

Ability to move throughout premises and visually inspect conditions including bending, stooping, and reaching arms overhead.

Periodical fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the property to others.

Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 40 pounds.

Must be able to work in front of a computer screen for up to 5 hours per day.
