We are looking for a General Manager that will be responsible for overseeing overall operations of the property. This position requires an established restaurant professional with the ability to lead a large team, uphold service standards and the guest experience and maintain the integrity of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Floor Presence:
- Be actively involved in the day to day of the operation including presence on the floor during service.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
- Communicate effectively all changes in standard operating procedures, product-related facts, and any other changes to all stakeholders.
- Personalize service by leading by example - using guest's name, building relationships with guests, and touching every single table.
- Work closely with the staff to establish a group of hospitality minded employees who will develop and maintain our philosophy and values.
- Responsible for all new hire training checklist completion following company standards.
- Partner with the BOH to help monitor and make sure quality of food and beverages is at its highest.
- Maintain control over inventories: beverage, china, glass, and silverware.
- Responsible for maintenance of the entire property and overall decoration and aesthetics including lighting and music levels.
- Responsible for overall grooming of service staff and cleanliness of the FOH areas.
- Ensure all operational tasks and procedures are adhered to by the management team and follow up on performance and driving tasks to completion.
Administrative:
- Partner and support in the tip management and payroll process.
- Oversee and manage schedules according to labor budgets considering applicable laws and regulations regarding breaks and 80/20 rule.
- Continually review performance of all staff - address shortcomings and recognize success.
- Serve as role model and mentor by setting a positive example in all aspects of business and personnel management.
- Follow an organizational structure that ensures maximized productivity and communication.
- Maximize financial performance and profit by monitoring costs.
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws including health & labor.
- Ensure accuracy of menus, wine list, beer and house cocktail lists and POS postings.
- Ensure all guest requests and/or complaints re being addressed in timely manner.
- Participate and manage closing reports regarding the daily performance of the restaurant.
- Ensure all employee relations including terminations, employee disciplinary actions and employee issues or concerns are communicated urgently to HR.
- Attend all necessary meetings to stay informed about property and event updates and ensure alignment with team goals.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working as a General Manager or similar capacity, within a high volume upscale, fine dining restaurant or luxury restaurant.
- Experience in tip management and payroll processing required.
- Time management and ability to work under pressure.
- The ability to lead a team of managers and employees, engaging in coaching and development at all times.
- Excellent financial acumen
- Team-orientated and positive attitude
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and electronic, are required
- Well versed in Microsoft Office, Excel, and can easily adapt to new technology
- Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods of time and have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Full, open availability required.
- Certification in NYC Food Protection License required
