Job Description:

Our goal at Pickleland is to build the best facility ever created . As our General Manager, you will be a critical contributor to help us build the foundation of Pickleland #1 so that we can grow this brand into many locations around the globe.

You will be responsible for creating a great customer experience, be revenue oriented, and lead the team towards our desired outcomes. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for the sport of pickleball!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Revenue-oriented
    • Develop new and grow existing revenue streams (leagues, tournaments, corporate events, etc).
    • Meet quarterly and annual targets for membership growth and staff retention.
  • Leadership
    • Hire, interview and train the team (front desk, team leads, coaches, etc.)
    • Foster a positive and growth-oriented team environment. Provide employees with supportive and constructive feedback whenever necessary
  • Operational / Facilities Management
    • Create Operating Manual with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all tasks to be performed at Pickleland.
    • Implement, monitor and ensure adherence to company safety protocols, cleanliness standards, and facility maintenance.
    • Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.
    • Evaluate vendors as needed.
  • Pickleball activities
    • Oversee court scheduling, tournament planning, and event coordination.
    • Oversee staffing and logistics of tournaments and events.
    • Develop open play scheduling and create facility rules with the help of our Director of Pickleball
  • Build marketing strategies to attract new members, corporate events and tournaments.
  • Promote the facility and create win-win opportunities with other brands, ambassadors and organizers.
  • Bring net-new revenue opportunities such as sponsorships, tournaments, etc.
  • Customer Service
    • Ensure we have an NPS (Net Promoter Score) of 80+
    • Maintain positive relationships with members, addressing concerns and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Analyze financial reports, budgets, and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with the ownership/board of directors on strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Legal
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure smooth and efficient facility operations.
Qualifications:
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to make decisions and implement overall business goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Sports Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a recreational or sports facility setting.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Customer service-oriented.
  • Knowledge of pickleball rules, regulations, and industry trends, with a passion to continue togrow as a leader and a player.
  • Connections with local businesses, pickleballers and potential partners
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Slack, and facility management software.
  • [Bonus] 1-2+ years of playing pickleball.
  • Successful completion of a background check may be required
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Bending, Stooping, Lifting, Pulling occasionally.
  • Capacity to work for extended periods in noisy environment.
