Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Location Spitzer Toyota Monroeville DescriptionSpitzer Toyota in Monroeville is looking for passionate team members who want to deliver a high level of service to our customers, while growing their career at a top regional employer in Northeast Ohio. The General Manager is completely responsible and will be held accountable for the successful operation of the entire dealership. Success is defined by profitability, achieving market share as defined by the manufacturer, above group average CSI and low turnover. They will develop and execute plans to ensure the dealership of a reasonable profit and the stockholders of a fair return on their investments. The General Manager will accomplish all objectives through planning, motivating, and coordinating the activities of all departments. While you take care of our customers, we will take care of you! ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Profitability
  • Ensure that every department operates at a profit.
  • Function each day with an intimate understanding of the dealership's financial health in real time
  • Identify and trouble shoot any glaring accounting issues or concerns immediately
  • Plan the dealership's productivity for the coming year broken down by month and report the plan to Spitzer Management for approval
  • Coordinate with the business office to ensure that records are maintained accurately
  • Obtain, review and recommend improvements for each department manager's monthly forecasts and plans
Morale and Personnel Management
  • Provide enthusiastic leadership to shape employees' attitudes and build morale.
  • Establish harmony and teamwork among departments
  • Ensure turnover is kept to a minimum by investing time and sharing knowledge in a productive and constructive manner with all dealership personnel
  • Stay true to our business model which includes Value Pricing, transparent and customer oriented selling
  • Handle all dealership personnel functions in partnership with Spitzer Management's support team to include: interviewing, hiring, measuring and evaluating performance, recognizing accomplishments, and termination.
  • Review and approve together with Spitzer Management the compensation plans for all employees
  • Complete a formal performance evaluation of each department manager once every six months in partnership with Spitzer Management
  • Conduct Department Head meetings at 11:00 am every Monday without exception. A checklist of items to be covered and notes from the meeting will be sent to Spitzer Management by the Office Manager
  • Report all personnel issues to Spitzer Management
  • Ensure proper documentation is made on any questionable incident, or incident which warrants discussion with an employee. This documentation should be shared with Spitzer Management
  • Review and become familiar with all company employment policies
Training
  • Foster growth and productivity through support and active participation in ongoing training for all dealership personnel
  • Maintain discipline regarding our value selling sales process in both sales and service.
  • Monitor effectiveness of training received
  • Review and become familiar with all company policies. Educate dealership employee on compliance with the policies set forth by Spitzer Management and operate your dealership in keeping with the policies communicated to you
  • Communicate Spitzer Autoworld's policies and procedures to all employees and ensure that they are understood and followed
  • Make certain that department managers are training and supervising employees for optimum effectiveness
Manufacturer Relationship
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the factory and lending institutions
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with factory personnel regarding inventory acquisition, etc.
Reputation Management
  • A General Manager is always on duty, whether out to dinner with friends or on the sales floor. Please conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times. Ultimately, your behavior reflects directly on the reputation of Spitzer, whether negative or positive.
  • Resolve any customer complaints that line management has not been able to resolve.
  • A General Manager must be actively involved in the day to day operations of the dealership. In other words, the General Manager should be engaging with customers and all dealership personnel throughout the day, not sitting in a back office. Physical presence is crucial
Vehicle Merchandising
  • General Manager is ultimately responsible for the health of a dealership's inventory not only from the aspect of stocking quality, high demand vehicles, but also for getting them live online with quality 50+ photos, description and competitive market pricing for retail sale in a timely manner
  • All vehicles must go through service and receive necessary reconditioning to ensure the vehicle is safe for operation
  • Ensure personnel accountability is in place to coordinate and maintain a smooth and timely vehicle merchandising process
  • GM is accountability for the appearance of their virtual showroom and lot, in addition to their physical showroom and lot
Advertising and Sourcing
  • General Manager is ultimately responsible for the traffic flow a dealership experiences
  • Clear understanding and belief in the current and cutting edge strategies for attracting traffic to a dealership which include partnership with various online vendors such as vAuto, Autotrader, Cars.com, Craigslist.com, eBay.com, OEM websites, Social Media, Spitzer websites, DealerSocket's marketing tool, etc.
Software Tools
  • General Manager must embrace and utilize software tools afforded to them daily to ensure the dealership is staying current with the demands of our industry
  • More than just tools, partners such as vAuto and DealerSocket share with us a specific philosophy towards selling vehicles in today's market and to today's customers
  • Software training will be provided, but more importantly, a General Manager must believe in the same philosophy we have in order for everyone to be successful
  • Software tool usage will be monitored by Spitzer Management on a regular basis. Bottom of Form
Position RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 5 years of dealership experience
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment
  • Submit to and successfully complete MVR, background check, and pre-employment drug screen
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A college degree or equivalent experience in Automotive dealership is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CDK system
