Job Summary:

The General Manager (GM) of Plastic Masterbatch (Color and Additives) will lead the operations, strategy, and business development efforts for our masterbatch product line. The GM will oversee production, quality control, research and development, and customer relations to ensure the growth and profitability of the business. This position is responsible for driving innovations in color and additive masterbatch solutions, maintaining relationships with key clients, and leading a high-performing team across various functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a business strategy to drive growth in the masterbatch segment, with a focus on color and additive solutions.
  • Set and monitor production, quality, and sales targets to ensure profitability and business sustainability.
  • Lead market research to identify trends and potential opportunities in the plastics industry, especially in color and additives.

Operations and Production:

  • Oversee production processes to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality masterbatch products.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to develop new and innovative masterbatch formulations and improve existing product lines.

Sales and Marketing:

  • Work closely with the sales and marketing team to develop strategies for increasing market share in key segments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, including negotiating contracts and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Support the sales team with technical expertise and assist in the presentation of products to clients.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure stringent quality control processes are in place to meet customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Monitor product quality and work closely with the quality control team to address any issues or improvements.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals in production, R&D, sales, and quality control.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Oversee staffing, training, and professional development initiatives to ensure team success.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field. Masters degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in the plastic masterbatch industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastic additives, color masterbatch formulations, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven track record of leading business operations and driving growth in the plastics or chemicals industry.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in polymer science and color matching technologies.
  • Familiarity with extrusion, compounding, and quality control processes in masterbatch production.
  • Strong understanding of market trends and customer needs in the plastic industry.
  • Leadership & Management:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Location:

This position is based in the Greater Charlotte, NC area, with occasional travel to client sites and production facilities.
