The General Manager is responsible to oversee all company snow & ice control operations. This includes but is not limited to the management of all field operations, sub-contractors, customer relationships, sales/business development activities and successful operation of division to meet profitability goals.

- General Responsibilities
- Ability to take direction and assist company president and vice president as needed.
- Leads District Managers to work in a ‘team approach' during all facets of their role.
- To understand and be committed to providing services that meet and exceed the company standards.
- To ensure that all safety policies are enforced with regards to all company operations.
- To complete all required paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
- Sales Responsibilities
- Develop and continually evolve a fully-integrated, professional sales organization.
- Maintain/develop measures to track renewals, new sales conversion and close rates.
- Provide weekly sales updates to senior management which include forward-looking statements to project weekly, monthly, seasonal sales totals as well as comparisons to prior year(s) results.
- Calculates bid rates for each account for individual and group job costing.
- Prepare presentation materials for more involved bids as needed.
- Develop and implement marketing initiatives to help facilitate sales goals and meet annual company sales/profitability objectives.
- Identify new tools to further streamline the lead/sales generation process.
- Develop a process with key milestone dates to ensure a seamless transition from seasonal operations into the selling season.
- Operations Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and evaluate the efficiency of all snow route operations.
- Leads all snow operations meetings for the company.
- Manage Pre-Season property inspection process for all districts to ensure completion by November 7th.
- Assists District Managers and Area Managers in the training of sub-contractors on how to facilitate the ‘timely and efficient snow plowing operation' of each assigned site.
- Initiates call to District Managers to prepare field staff for impending storms.
- Initiates call to District Managers to ‘kick off' plowing operations in their respective districts.
- Assists District Managers in equipment allocation or re-allocation in event of shortages.
- Assists District Managers in orchestrating the efficient and timely use of sub-contractors.
- Conduct sub-contractor and snow production personnel meetings a minimum of once per month during peak season.
- Manage Post-Season property inspection process to ensure completion by May 1st.
- Ensures the completion of required paperwork from District Managers to billing team.
- Ensure the completion of plowing operations within each district within the projected target timeframe.
- Perform site inspections during and after service event to ensure successful completion of all scheduled tasks on specific routes.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through successful completion of snow management operations by reviewing Customer Service feedback sheets.
- Create an action plan for corrective action on sub-standard customer service experiences.
- Provide feedback to senior management on customer satisfaction post-storm.

- To continually improve knowledge and understanding of company's snow removal operations.
- To continually improve organization and efficiency with regards to his/her responsibilities.
- To set personnel performance goals and objectives annually.
- Actively participate in personal self-improvement by reading and participating in self-motivation and goal-setting programs.
- Increase overall sales of snow & ice control division while maintaining margins and profitability.
- Continually maintain or improve morale of company ‘partners' and sub-contractors.
- Mentor ‘partners' and sub-contractors to reinforce company culture and vision.
- Achieve certified snow professional status within two years of employment.
- Implement and enforce company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Manage and maintain positive relationships with contracting firms, vendors and sub-contractors.
- Seek out ways to improve efficiencies in all facets of the business.
- Ensure that District and Area managers are meeting company expectations.
Specific Responsibilities to oversee and/or do:
- Facilitate all sales and marketing efforts in snow division.
- Oversees and manages all District and Area managers including task assignment.
- Assist in strategic planning, marketing and finance planning.
- Supports company quest to become industry leader within company's markets.
- Sets personal performance goals and objectives annually.
- Helps facilitate paperwork flow for production and job costing.
- Conducts meetings as required with District Managers, Area Managers, Office, Fleet and Senior Management staff.
- Attends, contributes and participates actively in all required company meetings.
- Contributes to efforts in reaching company goals and objectives.
- Reinforces through performance the company ‘mission statement'.
- To participate in establishing company goals and objectives.
Those who report to Director of Snow Operations:
- District Managers
- Area Managers (As needed in the event that a District Manager position is open)
Minimum Requirements to meet job eligibility:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of snow plowing & removal operations.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
- Must have excellent oral communication, interpersonal, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Must be computer literate; including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess excellent math skills and strong aptitude to understand and analyze financial statements relating to snow & ice division.
- Must possess cost accounting skills including budget preparation and financial projections.
- Must be able to perform take-offs and prepare detailed bid documents based on specifications for snow & ice control services.
