We are looking to fill a General Manager position at Logistec Terminals in our Albany, NY operation. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Provide regular and focused management of the terminal and vessel operations, consistent with the Company's operating principles. Evaluate and adjust operations accordingly to varying market or customer needs. Ensure the organization's commitment to safety and quality standards are at the forefront of daily operations. Assist in incident investigation to determine root cause and develop corrective actions. Participate in the annual budgeting process and manage within the guidelines of annual operating budgets. In collaboration with Commercial Sales team, coordinate all sales efforts of the operation. Communicate regularly with existing and potential customers. Participate in industry functions. Develop rates for service. Negotiate leases and labor contracts. Advise, consult and coordinate with corporate head office staff regarding the operations of the terminals. Mentor and train current field management team. Develop the skills of supervisors, operators and warehouse labor. Must possess strong communication skills. Must keep management informed in a timely manner of operational needs and incidents. Ensure audits of the operations and equipment is done regularly. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of stevedoring staff, supervisors, and operational managers. Foster a positive and productive work environment with a focus on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities for staff. Customer Relations: Maintain and strengthen relationships with clients, addressing any concerns or issues related to cargo handling and service delivery. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and tailor services to meet their requirements. Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets for stevedoring operations, including cost control and resource allocation. Analyze financial reports and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards. Promote a culture of safety, conduct regular safety audits, and address any safety concerns promptly. Strategic Planning: Develop long-term strategic plans to drive growth and enhance operational capabilities. Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements to implement best practices. Qualifications Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years experience in cargo handling, stevedoring, port operations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven track record of driving operational excellence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, staff, and stakeholders. Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting and cost control. In-depth knowledge of stevedoring operations, safety regulations, and industry standards. Certifications: Relevant certifications in port operations, safety management, or logistics (e.g., OSHA certification, International Maritime Organization (IMO) training) are a plus.
