GENERAL MANAGERJob Purpose: ensures the profitability of the dealership by overseeing the various departments which include variable operations (sales & financing), fixed operations (service & parts), and the business office (accounting & administration). Duties of the general manager include, but are certainly not limited to, planning, motivating, and coordinating the dealership's management through leadership and solid business practices.Job Duties:Hiring all management positions, completing performance evaluations regularly, and developing short and long-term goals for each department manager (includes administrative, sales, parts, collision, and service departments)Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually, and submitting time projections to corporate management for approvalEffectively communicating with the comptroller/office manager on a weekly basis to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projectionsPaying close attention to daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessaryExplaining the policies and procedures of the dealership to all employees and following up with employees to ensure that these issues are understood and followedProviding dealership management with reports on the financial condition of the dealershipOverseeing the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete, accurate, and submitted on time to the management/dealership ownersCoordinating with the business/administrative office to ensure that records and analyses are correctly maintainedCreating a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel and maintaining these relationshipsCoordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure their profitability and efficiencyWorking with sales and finance management to develop dealership sales goals and business plansMaintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and moraleCreating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealershipFocusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaintsSkills/Qualifications:Two or more years of dealership sales5 or more years in a supervisory positionExperience in other dealership departments is a plusAbility to manage a large, diverse staffKnowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting operations and compliance, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know regulationsEffective analytical and communication skillsEffective people skillsGood reading, computer, and mathematics skillsLeadership qualitiesAbility to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specificationsShould be able to operate electronic diagnostic equipmentJob Requirements:Must hold a high school diploma or equivalentCollege degree in business administration is preferred2 years management experience5-7 years of technical experience preferredSuperior customer interaction skillsExcellent negotiation abilitiesAssertive personality and strong drive for successMust be able to work evenings and weekendsAll applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, drug tests, credit report, and valid driver's licenseBenefits OfferedMedicalDentalVision401(k) with MatchingBasic Life InsuranceAccident & Critical Illness InsurancePaid TrainingEmployee Purchase ProgramAbout Us:If you're looking for an opportunity to be appreciated and involved in your career, your search is complete.
