Job Description:

The General Manager – Solar Solutions is directly responsible for setting & implementing CertainTeed's strategy for the BIPV market. The General Manager – Solar Solutions communicates & partners closely with supply chain, R&D, purchasing, operations & other support functions to achieve business objectives. The GM – Solar Solutions will be supported by a board of internal & external advisors consisting of the CEO, VP & GM of Roofing, VP of Strategic Business Development, & VP of R&D.

Manage P&L

  • Manage business results for sustained long-term growth of sales, margin, & profit. Actively manage business segments, identify & implement business & communication process improvements, & align organizational resources & structure to best support market penetration, sales growth, & increased profitability.
  • Develop & implement tactical plans based on the market strategy to achieve the sustainable & profitable growth of the business in all regions. Ensure coordination & execution of plans in all regions & alignment with the strategic intent of the business strategy.

Commercial & Customer Experience

  • Develop Market Strategy & supporting business plans. Lead effort for granular growth analysis of critical markets, development of technology & market roadmaps, competitive analysis, & threat/opportunity assessment. Maintain knowledge of economic, industrial, & other trends that affect markets, prices, & delivery conditions. Develop road maps for each market & implement clear & well-defined marketing plans to sustain competitive advantages. – Main priorities are for the development & service of Automotive OEM & Custom markets.
  • Responsible for driving the customer experience strategy across the activity. Including but not limited to management of the voice of the customer activities, collection, & analysis of customer feedback.

People Development

  • Implement, coaching & support staff to understand P&L concepts, inputs/outputs, & their activities impacting profitability & growth.

Product Management & Technical Services

  • An important emphasis for the Global Business Manager will be to work closely with R&D, ensuring that the portfolio of new product developments supports the business strategy & that there is alignment of product CTQs with market needs, ensuring operations process capability, marketing product launch communications, & development of selling tools. Utilize methodologies to ensure that there is a robust product pipeline & that project timelines are met. Directs Product Management activities to ensure business gross margin targets are met through: product line management (additions, rationalizations) & price management, product line rationalization. Play a key role in product development & provide information necessary for developing new products.
  • Develop Applications, Technical Services, & Support platforms to service current & develop future business. This includes establishing the team, methods, & processes for support of OEM & customized solutions. Translation/communication & application of OEM Quality Systems within our BUs. Contract management for identified customers.

Sustainability & Safety

  • Anticipate change, consider trends, & develop intentional plans/actions to address our sustainability initiatives & performance. For example, but not limited to Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), roadmaps, & product development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in business or Technical Field Required; Masters/PhD Preferred.
  • 7+ years' experience in general management/entrepreneurial experience with high-performance materials, growth marketplace, and diverse manufacturing required.
  • 7+ years' experience in oversight of an enterprise operating in a product development and competitive landscape environment requiring technical innovation; pricing strategy development, marketing, and product plans including short-term and long-term strategies required.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to run a sales organization/business (has to have good judgment and quick decision-making skills).
  • Proven experience in directing a leadership team along with indirect influential leadership skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate and influence C-suite executives.
  • Strong use of digital tools for sales process required; specific Salesforce experience highly preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry knowledge preferred; specifically with an understanding of Solar products preferred.
