JELD-WEN is currently seeking a General Production TG to join our growing team.
SUMMARY OF GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:
Under direct supervision, the General Production position(s) performs custodial duties in offices, warehouses, manufacturing areas, other building interiors, and in some cases building exteriors, at all JELD-WEN plants and facilities. The General Production also performs some production activities and operates machinery associated with the JELD-WEN product lines. This position also requires considerable more knowledge and responsibilities over that of the General Production positions as referenced in the position descriptions, and may provide guidance to the I and II positions while working closely with management and appropriate skilled trade positions to perform more complex duties.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Examples include advanced knowledge and understanding of the organizational goals and objectives, and policies and procedures. Must be able to work with all levels of the organization to coordinate work that must be performed by skilled trade workers (Maintenance level positions) and must have the ability to contact and schedule vendors or contractors for necessary building repairs and emergencies that can't be performed by existing JELD-WEN personnel. Must also notify and work with supervisory people on the need of these repairs and log them accordingly. This position not only uses appropriate cleaning equipment and performs routine maintenance on all building interior and exteriors, but also requisitions supplies and equipment needed for same. Will inform supervision in order to provide guidance, or works with General Production positions to perform maintenance duties. Works in a safe manner using appropriate safety equipment while performing maintenance and General Production duties. Maintains the work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations per plant and facility policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment when using cleaning products and in order to be on the plant floor and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner. Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative, but not all inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able clean the facilities, lift and/or move office equipment and finished and unfinished stock and parts in the plant or facility where the maintenance, labor and production is performed. Reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be reviewed and considered on a case-by case basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to fumes, cleaning solutions, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations and loud noises. All safety protocols including OSHA guidelines as mentioned above are mandatory.
KNOWLEDGE AND/OR ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
High School Diploma or GED; At least three (3) years experience at a JELD-WEN or comparable facility. Previous maintenance and General Production experience required; Must have knowledge and understanding of organization goals and objectives, policies, and procedures; Must be able to perform both custodial related duties and production activities including basic machinery operations; Must have basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repair and general handyman skills; Must Possess considerable knowledge of the operation; Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to production, custodial and maintenance duties; Must occasionally lift and/or move file cabinets, desks, tables, chairs and other heavy office equipment, and stock, materials and unfinished and finished production oriented materials in and near manufacturing work areas that weigh between 10 and on occasion in excess of 100 pounds; Must be able to operate machinery, perform production activities, empty trash and replace liners, sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors using conventional and industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.; Must use ladders, dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, polish light fixtures, and wash and replace blinds; Must remove stains from such surfaces using chemicals and cleaning solutions; Must also, where facility applicable, sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks; Must recognize unsafe conditions and take appropriate action on same to ensure the safety of themselves and others in the building and facility; Must have the ability and motivation to learn; The ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment; Be very energetic and enthusiastic; Have reliable transportation and be dependable; Have a responsible attitude; Be a team player; Be results driven. Must be able to work overtime as needed; Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
