Within an 42-month period, s/he will be responsible for successfully completing the Generation Operator Development Program, which includes obtaining both a Maintenance Progression, as defined by the Development Program, in the following maintenance fields: electrical, instrumentation and controls, and mechanical, and qualifying as a Control Room Operator. Failure to successfully complete the RREF Generation Operator Development Program may result in disqualification from the position. Once trained to the level of Control Room Operator the incumbent is contractually obligated to remain in the Anclote Operations organization for 12 months. Also, within the first 18-month period, under direct supervision and on a rotating shift schedule, the incumbent will be responsible for achieving qualification as an Outside Operator. During this 18-month period, the incumbent will undergo training and job shadowing; s/he will perform, under the general guidance of a journeyman work assignments like those of a Generation Operator (GO), such as conducting plant rounds, assessing plant equipment and systems for proper operation within prescribed parameters, performing routine maintenance tasks in their primary skill, and performing Progression Maintenance tasks. Generation Operator I (GO1) in the RREF Qualification and Development Program are expected to be able to solve more complex problems within their primary discipline with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They will be expected to effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to perform complex work without oversight as they progress through the RREF Qualification and Development ProgramResponsibilities and Duties:
  • Participate in the RREF Qualification and Development Program to become a GO-III.
  • First follow the GO qualification process operations track to become control board qualified.
  • Perform operations work in areas as trained.
  • Lock Out Tag Out
  • Follow RRE Procedures and Processes
  • Perform the installation, repair and maintenance to facility equipment, systems and components in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent.
  • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance tasks in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent.
  • Train employees within the Anclote Operations Organization in the journeyman discipline(s) held by incumbent.
  • Interprets design drawings and O&M manuals in locating and diagnosing trouble in plant equipment, components, and systems.
  • Record the as-found condition as well as the repaired condition in the work management system. Complete WO with notes.
  • Assists Engineering with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and/or components.
  • Demonstrates and conducts any required inspections/post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment, and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensures systems, equipment and components are returned to operational conditions.
  • Provides technical support for this work. Maintains accountability of property, including tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Utilizes P&ID drawings, schematics, and technical specifications in locating and diagnosing trouble in components, equipment, and systems.
  • Supports all troubleshooting and correcting of maintenance problems in the trained discipline (Electrical, or I&C) of the incumbent.
  • Support and comply with environmental regulations and safety standards, operational efficiency, and unit reliability.
Basic/Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required, and 3 years directly related experience as a journeyman required, or three years' experience in ancillary power operations in a military context.
  • Must achieve test-recommended score on the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) MASS, at the I&C level, and the POSS tests.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • GO1 - must possess a journeyman skill in Operations.
  • Vocational, technical, or military training (practical and theory) in operations, electrical or instrumentation.
  • Associate degree, or the military equivalent, in a related technical field preferred.
  • Three years directly related experience in lieu of a technical degree.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment, heavy equipment rigging, medium voltage maintenance and troubleshooting,
  • Additional years of experience with gas fired boiler technology is preferred and will be given preference over other power industry experience.
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic test equipment.
  • Must be proficient with computers, software applications and plant work management software.
  • Able to utilize tools such as Microsoft packages that include word, excel, power point. In addition, experience with maintenance management systems such as Maximo or equivalent.
  • Competently utilize design drawings, electrical and instrumentation prints, and technical manuals
  • Utilize a variety of computer software programs.
  • Technical training in electrical or instrument technology
  • Experience working with maintenance equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
Working Conditions:
  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts to cover a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation, around rotating and energized equipment, outdoors and indoors, in hot and cold temperature extremes under limited supervision. Must be available for callouts and long working hours.
  • Excellent analysis and decision-making abilities required.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as a hardhat, steel toed safety shoes, safety glasses, arc flash protective gear, hearing protection.
  • Must be able to work around rotating equipment, in extreme heat/cold, electromagnetic fields, be able to climb, climb ladders, crawl, kneel, stand, sit, walk.
  • This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.
