Position Summary Responsible for the timely execution of turbine generator work in a field environment. Provide and perform on-site technical direction, troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment. Work as part of a field service team to perform various field service jobs which include minor/major generator inspections and Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) set-up/tuning. Ensure quality work is being performed and pays attention to detail. Play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of generators to meet the power needs of our company and customers.
Position Responsibilities - Compliance with all company policies, procedures, and commercial commitments.
- Perform inspection and testing of the generator field and stator utilizing the latest technology. (MAGIC Jr. & Sr. inspection, Digital/Analog EL-CID, Flush and Bake skid (FAB), Quick skid, Capacitance Mapping, Tracer Gas, Vacuum Decay, Pressure Decay, 60 Hertz AC HIPOT test set, Wedge Tapping, Computer Based Reporting tool), Epoxy Injection, UT Flow, Hazmat training and other topics as business needs arise.
- Direct and perform repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references, and documentation technologies.
- Recognize, predict, and document potential generator failures.
- Present to the customer accurate generator quality issues as presented and selected by Generator Product Service and regional generator specialists.
- Familiarity with Power Circuit Breakers, Protective Relay Systems, AC and DC Motors / Generators, Programmable Logic Controllers
- Working knowledge on GE (EX2100), Brush (AVR 30, etc.), and Basil (250, etc.) Automatic Voltage Regulators
- Working knowledge of basic electrical circuits and electrical troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs, and schematic drawings
- Participate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.
- Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures.
- Ability to lead teams in performing minor and major inspections on a various generator (GE, Brush, Meidensha, etc.)
- Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Work irregular schedules as needed to deal with potential power plant problems or outages as well as site specific power dispatching. Irregular schedules can include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Callouts 24 hours a day/ 7 days/week, shift work, overtime including longer days over a multiday period due to prolonged weather events, nights, and weekends.
- Complete other tasks as requested.
Required Qualifications - Technical/University degree or qualifying experience OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Field Services role
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Oil & Gas or power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance or power plant equipment installation/commissioning
- Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.
- Traveling Required (50%)
- The ability to travel internationally as required.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Technical competence including understanding software, hardware, networks, etc.
- Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors for 10-12 hour shifts.
- Must be able to push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions with temperatures ranging from 40-100+ degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must read, write and speak fluent English.

- Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrated use of a calculator to perform the above calculations is sufficient.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to use a computer ( Word ,Excel, Power point, Microsoft teams).
- Qualified level. Has the knowledge and skill to actively support an outage and be aware of where to seek answers to questions as they arise. Has experienced successful installations and outages.
- Experience and training on Alstom, Siemans or other OEM equipment is preferred.
- Positive can-do attitude to manage relationships with customers, concerning technical and contractual aspects.
- Working knowledge and application of EHS rules.
