Primary Purpose:
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Valid Texas educational aide certificate upon hire
Experience:
* Prior experience working with children, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
* Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
* Ability to work well with children
* Ability to communicate effectively
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
* Setting up equipment and arranging the physical space for activities and lessons.
* Demonstrating proper techniques and exercises to students to ensure they understand and perform them safely
* and effectively.
* Monitor students during physical activities to ensure safety and adherence to rules.
* Offer guidance and assistance to students who may need extra help or have specific questions about exercises or techniques.
* Track equipment inventory, ensure equipment is properly maintained, and help students with equipment as needed.
* Provide instruction to students under the teacher's direction; work with individual students or small groups.
* Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
* Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
* Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
* Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
* Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
* Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Student Management
* Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
* Make teachers aware of the special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
* Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
* Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
* Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
