The role of the Geometry Technician is to ensure that the appropriate quality and body geometry can be obtained on cars delivered to our customers.
What you will do
- Report out on one pagers in daily morning meetings to GEs and management.
- Perform 1st line analysis by continuously monitoring and controlling the geometry outcome with the existing statistical systems. CM4D/Trend Machines (Supplier measurements, PA, PS, FDs)
- Perform ABA tests on Nominal buck
- Practice VCMS standardization and implementation.
- Analyse deviations from geo outcomes, being responsible for carrying out the necessary actions and perform analysis to correct the process equipment.
- Serve as the geometry expert representative during projects, follow the standard for the geo processing equipment.
- Participate in working with the measuring equipment, have knowledge in various quality assurance measuring systems, such as Laser trackers, measuring arms, scanners, clocks, pin gauges, and any new technology.
- Respond to measurement errors, in connection with the geometry measurements, analyse and fix the errors.
- Plan and carry out preventative maintenance (PM) and ensure continuous monitoring of the process equipment.
- Participate in design reviews for new installations, new programs and prototype constructions. Ensure the geometry process according to the process matrix.
- Act on alarms/events from production, analyze, fix, and inform the Production and Geometry organization.
- Work with GE to make decisions within the geometry area of responsibility.
- Align with overall objectives and secure implementation results.
- Communicate and align all activities with internal Volvo Cars stakeholders.
- Initiate Gemba activities with the purpose of geometry assurance.
- Perform Gage R&Rs to test performance of equipment and technicians
- Perform offsets in equipment when analysis calls for changes (verify production and maintenance knows before making changes in equipment)
What you will bring
- HS diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of directly related experience
- Knowledge of the production process
- Basic communication skills
- Systems & applications (Maximo, MS office)
- VCMS
- Software knowledge for relevant tools within Geometry (CM4D, measurement equipment, PC Dmis, CAMIO, CAD programs, Team center, … )
