Role Description: This is a contract position for a virtual teacher with availability Monday-Friday from 8 am to 3 pm ET. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging online live lessons, following and instructing exceptional learners to achieve the goals set forth in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and differentiating lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Delivery:

  • Develop and deliver interactive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Use virtual learning platforms to teach students in a synchronous (live) or asynchronous (self-paced) manner.
  • Modify and adapt instruction to accommodate the learning needs of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Provide one-on-one or small group sessions for students needing additional support.

Student Engagement:

  • Foster a positive online learning environment conducive to academic and personal growth.
  • Implement strategies for engaging students through virtual tools and resources.
  • Track student participation and ensure all students are actively involved in the learning process.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Design and administer assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Use data to refine teaching strategies and instructional materials.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance.

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain discipline and oversee the conduct of students within the virtual classroom.
  • Set clear expectations for online behavior and netiquette.

Technology Integration:

  • Utilize educational technology to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot basic technology issues related to the virtual learning environment.

Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders to discuss student progress and concerns.
  • Collaborate with other educators and specialists to support student learning.

Professional Development:

  • Engage in continuous learning to stay current with virtual teaching methodologies and SEND strategies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and school programs as required.
  • Contribute professional expertise to professional learning communities and maintain 12 hours of professional learning annually.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia certification is preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Education. Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 1-3 years of teaching experience.
  • Ability to submit background check.
  • Maintain a professional workspace with a computer and high-speed internet (headset recommended).
  • Successfully complete initial onboarding training.
  • Proficiency in using virtual learning platforms and technology.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to engage students in a virtual environment.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum and content-area standards.
  • Capability to analyze student data and apply it to instructional planning.
  • Excellent time management skills to facilitate online learning effectively.

Work Environment:

  • Remote work from home or designated virtual teaching space.
  • Standard school hours with additional time for planning, grading, and communication.
  • May require flexible scheduling to accommodate students in different time zones.
