Description The DarkStar Group is seeking a Geospatial AI/ML Programmer with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in McLean, VA. THE PROJECT The DarkStar Group's team integrates hundreds of data sources into a Geospatial Data Analysis platform used throughout the Intelligence Community. Their tool and dataset is widely-recognized as the leading platform for geospatial analysis, touching nearly every type of mission. Top government officials use analysis from this platform to make daily decisions that have global impact. The platform is constructed of 3rd party tools and custom applications, and new data sources are constantly being added. The customer is excellent to work with, and there is a healthy mix of customer-driven requirements and team-driven ideas / innovation: engineers typically have freedom in choosing how to do things and which technologies to utilize. Customer leadership also helps drive innovation and has created a close, collaborative idea exchange between staffers and contractors. Our Team Lead has said this is simply the best group of people I've worked with . Despite this platform being widely used, there is a huge amount of brand new work adding new capabilities and data sources, as well as migrating more and more of the subsystems to AWS. There are recurring opportunities on this team for Analytic / BigData Software Developers, Full Stack Software Engineers, Web Application Developers, Java Developers, JavaScript Developers, Python Developers, Geospatial (GIS) Developers, ETL Developers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, AWS Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Cloud Migration Experts, and Geospatial Systems Engineers. Work on this program takes place in the McLean, VA area (we cannot support remote work) and requires a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (acceptable by this customer). THE ROLE
  • The subcontractor will join a skilled team applying cutting edge research in a complex and evolving data environment, develop code to perform complex modeling to detect and characterize objects (using python, tensorflow, pytorch and related software packages) and enhance an evolving analytic tradecraft. They will integrate data from a variety of sources, formats and disciplines into coherent databases, train foundation models to advance the Intelligence Community, fine-tune models to address real intelligence questions, and write compelling documentation and reports for decision makers.
  • All Subcontractor staff must possess the core competencies listed below:
  • Conceptual, quantitative, organizational, research, writing, verbal communication and graphical representation skills.
  • Sound judgment and creative problem solving and independent working skills.
  • Sound interpersonal and teamwork skills to work with individuals and organizations, to include varying levels and types (Government, industry, and academia).
  • Facilitation skills to bring diverse groups together on issues and reach consensus across stakeholders.
  • The ability to perform complex analyses and to communicate its results using accurate, concise, and effective writing and through descriptive and graphical representations.
  • Technical understanding of the systems supporting aspects of the functional areas.
  • Knowledge of standard tools [e.g., the Sponsor's various computing networks, Microsoft Office Products], as appropriate; and a demonstrated ability to learn to use and support other tools that may be added or developed as the program evolves.
  • Flexibility in assisting with ad hoc tasks and in adjusting as tasks are re-prioritized.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (computer science, mathematics, statistics etc)
  • Data Science experience
  • Python and/or R
  • Machine Learning/Computer Vision/Object Detection
  • Prior experience with Pytorch, keras and overhead imagery would be beneficial but not a requirement
