Job Description:
Our client is looking for a skilled, resourceful, and collaborative Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Burlington, Vermont. The Geotechnical Engineer will work closely with a team of staff engineers and scientists on challenging and exciting projects in Vermont and throughout New England. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position, with opportunities to be challenged, contribute to project outcomes, interact routinely with project Principals, and grow professionally.Essential Functions - What You Will DoTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • Coordinate with project team members, subconsultants/subcontractors and clients.
  • Observe and document complex foundation and slope repair construction activities.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze field and soil laboratory data.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, design plans, cost estimates, specifications, and other deliverables.
  • Assist with project management tasks, including developing proposals, budgets and attending meetings.
Competencies - What We Are Looking For
  • 0 - 3 years' experience with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering (geotechnical focus is preferred).
  • 0 - 3 years' experience with a Master's Degree in civil engineering (geotechnical focus) is preferred.
  • Successfully passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or able to take exam within 1 year of hire.
  • Previous field subsurface evaluation field experience (i.e., soil boring and test pit observations) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills combined with the flexibility to work with shifting priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical understanding is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work well as a team member, with a collaborative communication style.

  • Full-time position.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday with flexible daily hours as project work schedule permits.
  • Hybrid work arrangement is negotiable.
  • Located in Burlington, Vermont.
  • Local travel within the New England area (including extended stays) is required.
