A top engineering firm in the area is looking to add a Geotechnical Engineer with expertise in support excavation design to their team. This stable and growing firm is well-known for offering valuable knowledge and expertise in the AEC industries. Due to the recent growth of the firm, there is an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a team of highly motivated professionals working on a variety of challenging and impactful projects.

Geotechnical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze support systems for excavation projects in urban environments, particularly in New York City.
  • Perform geotechnical site investigations, data analysis, and soil testing to assess subsurface conditions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and calculations for excavation safety, including shoring, bracing, and retaining wall systems.
  • Assist in managing multiple geotechnical engineering projects concurrently.
  • Work alongside project management teams to monitor project progress, ensure timelines are met, and implement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and local authorities to ensure adherence to regulations and industry standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and cost estimates.
  • Provide on-site consultation as needed and help mentor junior engineers.

Geotechnical Engineer Qualifications:

  • 3 to 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, specifically in support excavation design.
  • PE or EIT certification preferred (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Experience with excavation projects, including shoring, retaining walls, and foundations.
  • Familiarity with design software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and geotechnical analysis software (gINT experience is a plus).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports.
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects independently.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Geotechnical Engineer Compensation:

  • $80,000 - $110,000 (DOE)
