Marino Engineering Associates (MEA) and its predecessor is a geotechnical company with a longstanding tradition that performs innovative and state-of-the-art work. Over the past 40 years, MEA's well qualified staff have been providing mine subsidence engineering due to mine or karst, field and monitoring services, subsurface investigations, shallow and deep foundation systems, design of earth retaining structures, underground excavations, mine subsidence risk and damage potential, 2D & 3D advanced numerical analyses, rock engineering, soil-structure interaction analyses of geohazards effects on transmission and distribution pipelines, and forensic engineering.
MEA is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer Manager to meet the growth needs of the company. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual passionate about geotechnical engineering, has lead teams or departments, and has a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate workflow
- Lead geotechnical/geological evaluations
- Lead and oversee field and geotechnical explorations, sample collections, and/or construction-related activities
- Perform engineering analyses and calculations
- Write, prepare and review proposals and reports for projects of varying size and complexity
- Effectively interact and communicate with clients and staff
- Supervise and mentor work of other professionals, technical and support staff
- Follow safety rules and standards for all projects
- Manage projects and ensure they are completed on-schedule, within budget, and consistent with company and client standards
- Develop and conduct site characterization activities, foundation and retaining wall design, settlement/heave analyses, slope stability analyses, and foundation/earthwork construction observation
- Safely plan field assignments including geotechnical site reconnaissance, forensic investigations, test boring observations, geophysical investigations, and construction monitoring.
- Clearly and readily communicate with contractors, clients, and others affiliated with the project to proactively resolve potential issues
- Develop and maintain relationship with clients, achieving sales targets
- Serve as the client liaison and be accountable for client satisfaction with company's performance and deliverables
- Identify and market new clients
- Travel as need and/or assigned
- Perform any other duties assigned by the management team

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering with emphasis on subsidence and/or ground control
- Relevant technical experience in Geotechnical engineering and/or numerical analyses
- Familiar with soil and rock mechanics principles, subsidence analysis experience.
- Have report writing skills
- Ability to work effectively with other engineers and technicians in geotechnical/mining, subsidence, and forensic engineering projects
- Ability to develop proposals and scopes, programming supervision, quality control, and budget management
- 10+ years of employment experience in geotechnical engineering
- 5 years of project management experience
- Excellent writing, organizational, and communications skills
- Must be personable and able to communicate with clients and staff at all levels
- An established history of successful project management
- A commitment to technical excellence
- The ability to develop and maintain relationships with our clients
- Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar material
- Proven track record of accomplishments in business development planning and marketing of engineering services
