Opportunity Snapshot:

Qualifications:
- BSc or Master's in relevant Geoscience / Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or experience in Exploration, Development & Production environment A Geoscience Technical Support Technician will demonstrate many of the following:
- Extensive knowledge of geoscience data including data elements, relationships, and usage to identify data problems and loading errors
- Extensive knowledge of geodetics and coordinate reference systems
- Proficient in MS Office tools (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong knowledge with the various digital and hardcopy data repositories
- Very strong knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl, SQL) is helpful
- Extensive analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Understand how data will feed to and from Plex and Thor
- Understanding of GIS/SQL/Spotfire/(Alteryx would be great)
- Excellent oral and technical business writing/communication skills
- Promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing
Responsibilities:
- Provide project level geoscience data integrity (data QC) and data management support that enables Geoscientists to work more effectively
- Help establish and maintain local and global data standards and models
- Gather, transfer and load data from corporate repositories into project data stores and shared projects
- Work with Client to identify / locate heritage data and ensure data is loaded properly into corporate repositories
- Assist Technical Data Center in capture and documentation of new and rediscovered 3rd party / vendor datasets Data Manipulation and Workflows
- Import and export spatial, well, and log data from 3rd party and vendor datasets
- Convert, transform, reposition, and reformat data from original sources and corporate repositories as needed
- Manage and maintain spatial data (cartography and culture data) using ArcGIS and Petrel
- Document new workflows and automation of routine defined tasks Technical Processes
- Utilize appropriate technology to generate or support the creation of geoscience maps, presentation packages, montages, logs, etc. with the ultimate goal of helping to make a business decision
- Create, digitize, edit, add attributes, import, and export GIS data
- Generate derivative products and first-pass interpretation support for Geoscientists
- Produce geological figures General
- Network with Houston and global Geoscience Technical Support team members
- SharePoint administration
- Monitor/analyze competitor activity as required
- Need to learn existing PXD workflows/Tools
- Handle PTRs as a part of the dev team. Handle SCRs as a part of the dev team. Build/Maintain the SDE and update attributes. Build/Maintain the IMDB and update attributes
- Create Shape files in arc: Need to create shape files that represent different breakouts of our development
- Understand how to test data quality and how to find the right data - Data management
- Help create sticks for a stick map reflective of company plan and reserves. Implement changes to stick map and all attributes as the dev team makes updates and changes strategy
- Design, develop, and institute automated workflows utilizing various technologies (Python, GIS, SQL, Spotfire, Alteryx, MS Power Platform and more) to minimize human error, standardize data, and apply data management best practices with a focus on data integrity and governance
- Supporting the Dev Analyst Team: Dev Analyst will be imbedded to the development teams. They will need to help streamline data management and data flows. Will need to work with PXD individuals to start bringing over some of their items into XOM
- Work with domain experts, data scientists, engineers to understand needs, constraints, and limitations: This is ongoing and will be tied to different work items that come up either by the BU
- Understand how to handle/manage/maintain large data set
