- Provide interns with practical, hands-on experience in caregiving for seniors with complex medical conditions.
- Encourage the development of empathy, patience, and personalized care approaches through person-centered care training.
- Equip interns with practical skills in managing various medical conditions while emphasizing individual needs and preferences.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills essential for effective caregiving in both clinical and administrative roles.
- Emphasize the importance of quality care in hospitals by highlighting how reducing medical errors and lowering readmission rates can impact reimbursement and other business objectives.
Requirements
- Students in Nursing, Healthcare, Mental Health, Gerontology, Human Services, and other related areas of study will be given priority
- Must be able to work in Lincoln, NE
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Reliable transportation, insurance, and a valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending and lifting
- Ability to meet scheduling and availability requirements
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to meet student eligibility requirements
Eligibility
- Eligible students include any person who is enrolled in a college, university, or other institution of higher education; or begins their internship within twelve months following graduation from a college, university, or institution of higher education.
Schedules
- Full-Time: 30 - 40 hrs per week
- Part-Time: 15 - 29 hrs per week
- Morning Shift: 8 AM - 12 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 1 PM - 5 PM
- Evening Shift: 5 PM - 9 PM
- Overnight Shift (awake): 9 PM - 8 AM
- Your schedule is designed according to your availability
- Must work at least two weekends per month throughout their employment and meet on-call expectations
Duration
- The internship must be completed within a period of no more than 24 months
- Students must work a minimum of 240 hours throughout their internship period.
