DescriptionMAIN FUNCTION:The Gift Shop Assistant is directly responsible for the prompt, efficient, and courteous service of customers, collecting payments, and for maintaining accurate daily/monthly financial reports. Other duties include maintaining gift shop inventory, stocking shelves and ensuring cleanliness of work and storage areas. This position reports to the Manager of Volunteer Services.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** 1. Assist the Development Assistant with the SJH Gift Shop: scheduling of volunteer staff, ordering, inventory and cash reconciliation.** 2. Assist the Development Assistant with preparing reports for the Accounting.3. Assist the Development Assistant with entering new inventory into the Square Point of Sale system** 4. Helps customers and collects payment for purchased items.** 5. Assesses inventory and restocks shelves as needed.6. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of gift shop storage areas.7.Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.8. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Medical Center.9. It is understood that this job description lists typical duties for the classification and is not to be considered inclusive of all duties which may be assigned.EDUCATION:Required: High School diploma or equivalent.EXPERIENCE:Required: Experience in retail or gift shop sales.Preferred: Previous experience with Point-of-Sale systems.CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:No CPR Required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Some physical effort is required. Ability to frequently lift 10lbs and occasionally lift up to 25lbs.Reaching and stooping.EXPOSURE CATEGORY:Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
