HS SOFTBALL ASST COACH:
Performance Responsibilities:
* Assist Varsity Head Softball Coach with the High School and Middle School Softball Program.
* Assist with developing, monitoring, supervising, and training beginners and advanced student-athletes to play competitive Softball.
* Motivate and mentor student-athletes both on and off of the Field.
* Commit to building relationships with and have a willingness to coach and mentor student-athletes academically and athletically.
* Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
* Instruct/guide student-athletes to lead to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
* Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
* Cooperate in a timely manner, with School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be periodically required.
* Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education in regard to required Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification (CTC) and ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
* Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
* Set a positive example and maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
* Be dressed appropriately at all practices and games.
* Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
* Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
* Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
* Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA.
* Assist with scheduling and completing a full season of contests including State-tournament games.
* Assist with pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
* Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
* Participate in School events (i.e. Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc).
* Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and use good judgment in decision-making.
* Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
* Is competent in techniques of the sport with players responding positively to directions given.
* Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
* Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
* Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
* Ensure that team is well prepared for opponents.
* Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable behavior by each student-athlete.
* Assist with the maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Essential Functions:

* Demonstrate knowledge of skills associated with this activity.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Training/Certifications:
* Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate desired.
* Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
* Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Completion of Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification.
CONTRACT PROVISIONS:
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Supplemental Annual Limited
SALARY: Per Schedule E of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
