Position Overview: The Global Controller, reporting to the CFO will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the company on a global scale, with a specific focus on compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, external reporting, and the oversight of North America shared support services. This role requires a process excellence minded individual with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in accounting process management. The Global Controller will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with US and international accounting standards, the implementation of effective financial controls, and the continuous improvement of the company's accounting shared support services. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the global accounting team, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and consolidation of the company's financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance the company's financial integrity.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Coordinate audits and reviews and liaise with external auditors and accounting firms.
- Monitor and manage risk management activities, including development and execution of a cost-effective global insurance strategy.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
- Oversee North America shared support services, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting processes and functions.
- Assure the deployment of an effective global accounting software strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Prior experience in international consolidation (GAAP compliant).
- Data driven, analytical approach to problem solving leading to systemic improvements and lasting results. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop people as well as drive process improvement is an advantage. Working knowledge of lean principles applied in an accounting process setting is a plus.
- Progressive experience in corporate finance and accounting responsibilities, including experience in a leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Proven experience in managing global accounting operations is preferred.
- Impeccable integrity and confidentiality; superior interpersonal skills; able to communicate and engage personnel at all levels of the organization. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Merger and acquisition experience (M&A accounting, systems and accounting process integration) is preferred.
- Proficiency in using financial software and ERP systems, with implementation and administration experience a plus.
- Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence tools related to financial reporting accuracy and fraud detection is a plus.
