Through our network of Hubs, we engage communities around the world in impactful conservation efforts.
THE POSITIONSOA is seeking a passionate impact-oriented individual to join its team as a Manager, Global Hub Network. This individual will be pivotal in expanding and increasing the impact of SOA's vibrant global network of Hubs. The Global Hub Network Manager will be critical to empowering young leaders, fostering community engagement, supporting Regional Representatives, and driving impactful initiatives that contribute to ocean conservation and restoration efforts. This position reports to the Head of Global Community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Hub Management & DevelopmentIn collaboration with Head of Global Community and Regional Representatives, guide the development, growth, and sustainability of the Hubs Network in alignment with SOA's mission and values.Collaborate closely with Regional Representatives to facilitate the establishment and management of Hubs.Assess, develop, improve, and implement standardized legal and procedural support structures to ensure global hub compliance and adherence to Hub Guidelines.Maintain and manage clear channels of regular communication with Regional Representatives, Hub Leaders, and Hub members through meetings and Hub Community pulse checks to understand pain points, priorities, and updates in real time.Improve the regional funding application, distribution, and evaluation processes to better support the funding of Hub projects and scholarships for young ocean leaders.Promote cross-regional collaboration and idea exchange among Regional Representatives and Hubs, facilitating the sharing of success stories, challenges, and innovative solutions.Design and facilitate global Hub Community events virtually and in-person.Establish and manage global level external partnerships.Design and implement new programming as needed for Hub Network growth and engagement.Set up new Hub Network regions, onboard new Regional Representatives, and support during team transitions by filling gaps as needed.Cross Teams & Programs Collaboration and Coordination
Collaborate and coordinate effectively across Regional Representatives and other SOA teams to mutually support intersectional programmatic efforts: data collection, marketing needs, digital community engagement, youth leadership events and programming, mentor community, and global events.Work with the Marketing Team to strengthen how communications can be leveraged to support sharing stories from each region through a suite of communication outlets, including press features, social media features, and non-traditional communications channels such as books, podcasts, TED talks, magazine features, etc.Work with SOA's Grants Lead in managing grants budget and defining funding guidelines and processes.Coordinate with Policy Advisors to understand and support intersections between policy initiatives and the Hub Network.Regional Representative Management
Serve as the primary point of contact and provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and support to Regional Representatives across different global regions.Regularly organize 1:1 and group calls with Regional Representatives.Foster a collaborative and supportive environment among Regional Representatives, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices across regions.Define needs and create capacity building opportunities for Regional Representatives.Strategic Planning & Reporting
Work closely with senior leadership to develop strategic plans for the growth and impact of the Hub network.In collaboration with Regional Representatives, set and support implementation of regional priorities and operational plans that are in alignment with the global strategy.Regularly report on Hub activities, achievements, and challenges to contribute to organizational decision-making and refinement of strategies.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (advanced degree is preferred).Proven experience in community management, youth engagement, or similar roles, preferably within nonprofit, environmental, or related sectors.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide and support a diverse group of young leaders.Cross-cultural competency, experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and in multiple international contexts.Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and partnership.Ability to create efficient, adoptable, effective systems, processes, supports, and resources. Ability to set up and operate systems and processes within project management, data, and digital community platforms.A genuine interest in ocean conservation and commitment to making a positive impact.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Regular travel may be required to support Hub activities and events.Flexible work hours may be necessary to accommodate global time zones.Experience in environmental conservation is preferred.Language skills from SOA regions (e.g. Spanish, Portuguese, French, Swahili) are advantageous.This role is based in San Francisco, CA.We are unable to sponsor work visas for this role.SALARY$80,000 - $110,000
