ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE
Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.
As a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests.Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact.Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs.Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.Thank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target.Be knowledgeable of GM areas to ensure sales floor is zoned, in stock and accurately signed and priced for guests.Acknowledge guests as you complete workload with minimal guest disruption.Ensure regular and promotional signing is set accurately for GM categories.Execute inbound, replenishment, backroom and signing processes for GM areas.Execute processes including pricing, presentation sets, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader.Understand how operational procedures impact shortage, profitability, in-store replenishment and inventory accuracy.Operate power equipment only if certified.Follow processes accurately with attention to detail, monitor own progress.Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.Work in a safe manner at all times; identify and correct hazards; comply with all safety policies and best practices.Support guest services such as back-up cashier, and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties.All other duties based on business needs.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
