Definition

Under general supervision, is responsible for leading and participating in non-maintenance activities at a regulation municipal golf course; performs related duties as required.

Examples of Work

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)

* Leads and participates in the daily operations of a municipal golf course;

* Plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes, and conducts golf programs such as various golf leagues, tournaments, activities, and events;

* Interprets rules of the golf course for players, such as penalty to be taken on out-of-bounds shots, order of play, and methods to be used for reporting scores;

* Supervises seasonal volunteers, golf rangers, and golf starters; schedules and assigns work activities, conducts performance evaluations, and oversees the work of subordinate personnel;

* Collects greens fees, riding cart rentals, and other fees; assists in maintaining daily cash accounts and making daily bank deposits;

* Accepts reservations for starting times; settles disputes over starting times;

* Ensures that players complete a round of golf in reasonable time;

* Ensures that the public areas are clean;

* Maintains a variety of electronic records and prepares reports on a computer;

* May determine to close the golf course during inclement weather in the absence of supervisory personnel;

* May assist in the daily operation of the pro shop, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of valid membership as an Associate for the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and proof of Level 2 or higher.

Possession of a valid driver's license.

OR

Possession of valid membership at the Apprentice or Class B level for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).

Possession of a valid driver's license.

SPECIAL NOTE

Whether entering this classification through the PGA or LPGA membership route, the Player Ability Test (PAT) must be passed in addition to completing the first level requirements in pursuit of the Class A level of membership.
