Department Golf Course Type of Position Full-time, Union Salary/Pay Rate $28.17 Deadline to Apply ongoing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 21 years of age with minimum of 3 years' experience in maintenance and repair of golf course equipment; must possess high school diploma or GED and valid driver's license. REQUIREMENTS Must pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug test.

NATURE OF WORK PERFORMED This is a skilled equipment maintenance position responsibible for the preventative and regular maintenance of the City's golf course vehicles, equipment, irrigation system, and field operations. This position trains others in the proper operation and care of equipment and vehicles and reports to the Superintendent. Work involves heavy lifting and exposure to fumes, chemicals and other noxious odors, dirt, and machinery with moving parts.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED Performs general labor, cleaning, preventative maintenance, and repair work related to golf course maintenance equipment and irrigation systems; prioritizes repair and maintenance work, keeps complete records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, repair costs, and preventative maintenance performed; operates heavy/light equipment and power tools while maintaining, fabricating, and repairing equipment; performs welding, acetylene burning, brazing, and soldering; sets up and sharpens reel and rotary motors; adjusts height and groomers of cutting units; trains employees in proper/safe operation and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and vehicles; assists Superintendent in property maintenance, including grounds surrounding course, practice putting greens, driving range, fences, bridges, entrance roads, parking lots.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Extensive experience in metal fabrication; knowledge of the operation and ability to repair gasoline and diesel engines, manual transmissions, drive trains, brakes, suspension, and steering in all golf course equipment; knowledge of hydraulic operations and repairs related to pumps, controls, and transmission devices; knowledge of electricity and components related to vehicles and machinery; ability to read and comprehend repair manuals, written instructions, and oral instructions to perform repair work; proficient in the use of repair tools and working knowledge of theory, care, operation, and maintenance of gas and diesel two and four-stroke internal combustion engines; ability to set up and sharpen reel and rotary motors; able to adjust height and groomers of cutting units; ability to prioritize repair and maintenance work and keep complete set of records for purchases, equipment conditions, repair costs, and preventative maintenance performed for all equipment; ability to train others in the proper operation and maintance of all golf course equipment; must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry object weighing up to 100 pounds and objects over 100 pounds with assistance; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
