DEPARTMENT: Breton Bay Golf & Country Club Maintenance
REPORTS TO: General Manager
SCHEDULE/SHIFT: Monday thru Friday with varied weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and care of our golf course grounds, ensuring they are in top condition for optimal player experience. This role requires a strong background in turf management, horticulture, and supervisory skills to lead a team of groundskeepers in maintaining the golf course to the highest standards.
* Supervise and participate with providing golf course/playing conditions commensurate with the expectations of members and guests have become seasoned to and within established budgetary guidelines
* Assist General Manager in the development and management of the grounds maintenance budget presented to Board of Directors for approval
* Monitor expenses and seek cost-effective solutions without compromising the quality of course maintenance
* Implement and manage a comprehensive turf management program to ensure the health and aesthetic appeal of the golf course
* Schedule and coordinate daily tasks, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources
* Oversee staff selection, employee reviews, training and scheduling processes
* Supervise all course operations, including irrigation operations, seasonal agronomic practices, and application of all pesticides, fertilizers and soil conditioners
* Oversee the maintenance and repair of groundskeeping equipment, ensuring that all machinery is in proper working condition
* Possess interpersonal skills needed to effectively lead and motivate the maintenance team daily
* Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, maintain Club amenities generally, including clubhouse, aquatic facility, and tennis courts; including overseeing any contractors hired to provide maintenance or repairs beyond the knowledge or expertise of the maintenance staff.
* Collaborate with golf course management, pro shop staff to ensure seamless operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or Turf Grass Management or Associate's degree and 3-5 years of golf course maintenance experience. Years of equivalent experience may substitute degree
* MD Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain such within 90 days of employment
* Certification in turf management or a related field is a plus
* Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record for the past three years
