Category Management DescriptionGolf Grounds Superintendent - Vitense GolflandVitense Golfland, established in 1955, is a family owned, year-round golf recreation destination located on the west-side of Madison, Wisconsin. The facility offers a large year-round 80 bay golf range that is consistently ranked as a Top 50 Golf Range in America. The golf range also offers an upscale experience with Golf Suites and Toptracer - a sophisticated ball tracking gaming system - the same product providing animated golf ball flight on TV Tour events. The 9-hole par-3 golf course is the first and only lit golf course in Wisconsin. Along with other recreational activities, the facility offers two 18-hole outdoor miniature golf courses and one 18 hole indoor miniature golf course. All three miniature golf courses are rated as the best in Wisconsin. All activities of the facility are lit for night play.Our Signature Hole Grill & Bar operates in the clubhouse and serves all areas of the facility. Staff of the Signature Hole, provide food and beverage items to those enjoying the Golf Suites. The combination of this service with the other activities, Golf Suites and Toptracer makes this the most unique practice facility in the State.In September, we will be launching our newest bar and restaurant- Babes at Vitense. Our goal is to create a neighborhood friendly grill and bar atmosphere.Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Maintains good conditions on the 9 hole par-3 golf & footgolf course, practice greens and golf range consistent with budget and expectations of the Owners.
  • Responsible for directly training, managing and motivating grounds crew and maintenance staff.
  • Knowledgeable in turf grass management, landscaping, golf course maintenance equipment and pesticide application.
  • Applies working knowledge of maintenance skills to maintain and repair of all golf course/range equipment of the facility and develops and complies with preventive maintenance for all mechanical equipment. Maintains accurate and up to date records as such.
  • Uses good judgment to consult with expert resources such as from manufacturer representatives
  • Has knowledge of basic irrigation systems and is responsible for maintaining the entire system.
  • Maintains all grass/vegetation areas of parking lot and exterior properties directly outside of facility along fence lines, etc.
  • Keeps golf range clear of snow to allow year-round activity.
  • Maintains the two volleyball courts to ensure safety and quality performance for customers.
  • Trims trees, shrubs and other areas as necessary
  • Maintains an outstanding positive attitude and environment that fosters a productive friendly workplace.
  • Enforces accountability standards for staff under supervision.
  • Effectively manages project work on a daily basis and effectively communicates to staff
Starting DateImmediatelyCompensation & Benefits:
  • Work-life balance, with the flexible regular schedule generally including two days off per week - one weekend and one week day with occasional exceptions for both
  • Salary $65,000 to $70,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on personal and company performance

Job Qualifications At least one year of experience in Golf Course or related maintenance Associates Degree or course training in Horticulture, Turf Management, Agronomy, or a closely related field preferred Multi-tasking and organizational skills Good teamwork, oral and written communication skills Ability to maintain positive attitude and motivate a team Ability to work flexible hours Small equipment maintenance and snow plowing experience preferred
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
