- Plans, directs, implements, and monitors the advancement of the County's legislative agenda; performs complex research and analysis of policies, programs, services and procedures
- Works directly and manages relationships with outside consultants
- Manages and coordinates the County's redistricting efforts
- Performs extensive research on legislative matters and strategic planning; collects information on legislative and policy problems and performs comprehensive analysis including conducting, completing, and analyzing studies, surveys, and audits
- Writes clear and accurate summary reports and prepares and delivers complex presentations, which may contain highly sensitive information or conclusions and makes recommendations based on findings to county management
- Makes presentations to the Board of Supervisors, County Leadership Team, advisory councils, commissions, civic groups, businesses and the general public as assigned
- Assists in planning, organizing, and researching grants for county departments researches, develops and identifies future program needs and identifies grant eligible opportunities to meet those needs; monitors and evaluates information to determine compliance with prescribed standards and guidelines; writes and edits grant applications
- May supervise, direct and train interns and other less experienced staff as assigned
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science or related degree and four years of experience in public affairs, public relations or communications; OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.Preferred Qualifications include Government relations or public affairs experience: experience with legislative agendas; County or local government experience; strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills; strong organizational and computer skills; experience working with Elected Officials.The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated professional with a keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to excellence.
